Design Engineer - Closures

Responsibilities And Domain Knowledge

• Design and develop side and rear closure systems, including doors, hoods, trunk lids, and tailgates.
• Ensure compliance with automotive standards, safety requirements, and regulations.
• Handle program stakeholders and suppliers with strong communication skills.
• Utilize CATIA V5 and Teamcenter Engineering for design and development tasks.
• Understand and implement structural requirements, functionality, and integration within the vehicle architecture.
• Ensure closure systems comply with safety standards, including crash safety and regulatory compliance.
• Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes for closure systems, balancing cost, weight, strength, and manufacturability.
• Knowledge of how to Design for ease of assembly, cost-efficiency, and manufacturability in high-volume automotive production environments.
  
  

Essential Skills

• Extensive experience in design and development of side and rear closure systems.
• Strong knowledge of automotive standards, safety requirements, and regulations.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in new part development.
• Exceptional CATIA V5 skills; experience with 3DX is preferred.
• Proficiency in Teamcenter Engineering and Vismockup.
• Strong communication skills to handle program stakeholders and suppliers.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  
  

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (B.E / B-Tech / M.E / M-Tech).
• 7 to 9 years of relevant experience.
• Expertise in designing and developing automotive closures.
• Knowledge of the structural requirements, functionality, and integration of closure systems.
• Familiarity with materials used in closure systems and corresponding manufacturing processes.
• Understanding of safety standards related to closure systems, including crash safety and regulatory compliance.
