Purpose

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • To develop, implement and maintain environmentally responsible business practices.
  • To lead the Implementation of Corporate Environment & Sustainability Protocols across the organization.
  • To ensure strict adherence to environmental standards and nurture a ubiquitous culture of sustainability.
  • To ensure the seamless integration of sustainable practices into the organizational framework.
  • To conceptualize, plan, co-ordinate, develop and deploy Environmental Best Practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will demonstrate skills and competencies to work and deliver in one or more of the below described functions of Environment and Sustainability:

Compliance Management And Evaluation

  • Evaluate, prepare and submit applications for Environment Clearance, Consent To Establish, Consent To Operate, Hazardous and Other Waste authorization across all sites.
  • Adhere to applicable regulations for Plastic Waste, E-waste, Battery Waste, Solid Waste Rules as per applicability.
  • To ensure that Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) targets are achieved.
  • To review and audit compliance in alignment with legal mandates, permits and regulations.
  • To assist site teams with technical clarifications for EC, CTE, and CTO at State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) or Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC).
  • To compile all relevant new regulatory compliances & ensure implementation.
  • To ensure timely and systematic submission of all relevant legal and regulatory filings, returns and procedural requirements.
  • Conduct audits and assessments across sites to ensure compliance and all-time readiness of sites

Management Systems

  • To establish baseline and plan for ISO 14001/45001
  • To establish, update and review Corporate Apex Manual & RoR for all sites with respect to Environment Management System.
  • To train & develop certified internal and lead auditors.
  • To ensure systems, Procedures and documentation at all sites with a specified focus on Risk Based Thinking.
  • Handle role of company level MR and Develop site MR’s.
  • To conduct internal & cross factory audits.
  • To ensure co-ordination with Third Party and internal teams in planning, organizing, execution and successful completion of Certification and Surveillance audits
  • To ensure closure of all findings and Horizontal Deployment.
  • To ensure Continual Improvement through Environment Management Programmes.
  • Develop and execute plans for management system implementation at Supplier sites

Corporate Sustainability (GHG, Water, Waste Reporting)

  • Develop systems for inventorization of GHG Emissions as per GHG Protocol.
  • Ensure that targets set by individual stakeholders are in alignment with the Net Zero targets of the organization.
  • Identify, compile, monitor, review, implement and ensure effectiveness of decarbonization measures taken in the organization.
  • Provide advisory services to sites and plan, design and develop strategy for actions on climate stewardship, climate mitigation and climate adaptation.
  • Conduct energy efficiency audits, drive energy conservation, maximise renewable energy utilization and drive adoption of clean energy throughout the organization.
  • Monitor and report GHG, Water, Waste Management and other sustainability related data to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Regularly quantify, set targets, monitor progress, and drive initiatives to reduce consumption of energy, fossil fuel, Water, Waste, Hazardous Substances, and natural resources through conservation, re-use, recycling, substitution, or other measures.
  • Keep abreast of the ESG standards (GRI, CDP, TCFD, BRSR) and develop periodical reports and disclosures.
  • Scope-3 Emissions inventorization, target setting and reduction through supply chain handholding and guidance.

Resource Circulation

  • Drive the concept of circular economy within Tata Electronics, with emphasis on Water and Waste; This will entail developing common framework, metrics, and guidance around water and Waste stewardship.
  • Identify and promote avenues for rainwater collection and utilization. Implement a systematic approach to identify, control, and reduce wastewater produced through operations. Conduct routine monitoring of overall water performance, including water intake and performance of wastewater treatment systems.
  • Design, Operate and Maintain Water and Wastewater systems based on the concept of 4R. Evaluate and monitor performance of Zero Liquid Discharge Systems.
  • Prepare and evaluate Water, Wastewater and TDS Balance for all sites and report deviations from set internal standards and targets on daily basis.
  • To plan and develop Waste Segregation Policy and ensure deployment at manufacturing sites (company level).
  • Implement a systematic approach to identify, manage, reduce, responsibly control disposal, and minimize waste to landfills from operations.
  • To develop and implement Waste Management and E-auction Policy.
  • To conduct e-auction of waste as per Scrap Sales Committee recommendation.
  • To ensure collection, storage and dispatch of scrap as per policy requirement.
  • To ensure optimal scrap revenue generation as per market scenario.
  • To ensure contracts for disposal of hazardous and non- hazardous waste.
  • To ensure waste vendor evaluation & audits as per legal requirements.
  • Identify & implement methodologies towards supply chain sustainability.

Building Thought Leadership

  • Identifying emerging environmental trends most likely to affect Tata Electronics.
  • Generate insights on the latest regulations, technologies new practices and processes.
  • Assist and co-ordinate the leadership team in framing, improving and continual evolution of the Environmental and Sustainability strategy of the organization.
  • Be the source of latest information and knowledge on ESG aspects and contribute by engaging with project team for developing strategy and ESG narrative.

Minimum Education Qualification: B.Tech /BE/MTech in Environmental Engineering
