Your Role And Responsibilities

As a Program Director, you’ll manage Software Development Managers, Architects who in-turn do software development, enhance product experiences, and scale our team’s capabilities. IBM’s Data Management organization is looking for an experienced and proven engineering leader to lead some of our strategic product development missions in India labs covering Db2 Database, Db2 SaaS, Server-less configurations On Prem and Hybrid cloud platforms. These missions would join our global technology teams distributed across Canada, Ireland, India and the USA and would help meet our customer expectations in our ww market and the growing need to leverage an ever-expanding group of professionals with the requisite skills and experience. You’ll manage careers, streamline hiring, collaborate with product, and drive innovation. We seek proactive professionals passionate about team growth, software architecture, coding, and process enhancements. Mastery of frameworks, deployment tech, and cloud APIs is essential as well as adaptability to innovative technologies.

Your Primary Responsibilities Include

  • Solution Development: Lead the development of innovative solutions to enhance our product and development experience, effectively contributing to making our software better.
  • Strategic Partnership: Partner with product teams to brainstorm ideas and collaborate on delivering an exceptional product, contributing to the overall success of the organization.
  • Technical Direction: Provide technical guidance by actively participating in architectural discussions, developing code, and advocating for new process improvements to drive innovation and efficiency.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage the engineering teams working on Db2 on Cloud related features/functionality fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of development projects, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and performance. Coordinate across teams to align with product goals and timelines.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide strong technical leadership in the design and development of features/functionality that enhance the Db2 SaaS offering While ensuring the implementation of best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, QA, and Ops, to ensure the successful Sprint delivery and deployments.
  • Career Development: Support the growth and development of team members by providing feedback, identifying training opportunities, and helping them achieve their career goals.
  • Resource Management: Allocate resources effectively to meet project goals, balancing team workloads, and managing project budgets where necessary.

Preferred Education

Master's Degree

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

  • Experience: 15+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5+ years in a management or leadership role.
  • 5+ years in leading and managing development organizations, partners and customers
  • Strong people management experience
  • Technical Expertise: Background and Knowledge of container-related technologies (Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker etc.) Relational databases and some experience with AWS or Azure
  • Some experience with one of C++, Go or Python.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire engineering teams, with a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within scope.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Someone who can play an active role in defining the strategy and align the engineering teams and others leaders to that.
  • Some one who has experience working with customers and related engagements
  • Establish development, quality and efficiency goals, track those regularly, identify gaps and lead the team towards successful outcome.
  • Help leaders and engineers to manage the entire life cycles of projects, from concept, through release, to production and its support
  • Manage the priorities of teams, driving high levels of quality and productivity
  • Build and grow your team through acquiring, up-training and retaining the highest level talent
  • Mentor, support and coach other leaders and engineers for their professional, technical and personal growth

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

  • 5 years in a management or leadership role
  • Open Source: Experience working with or contributing to open-source projects. A deep understanding of the open-source ecosystem and community dynamics.
  • Cloud Experience: Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, particularly in the context of data base, data processing and analytics.
  • Agile Methodologies: Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and experience in applying them to software development projects.
