Core Responsibilities
- Maintaining Financial Records: Keeping accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable.
- Processing Invoices and Payments: Ensuring invoices are processed accurately and payments are made on time.
- Reconciling Accounts: Regularly reconciling accounts with the general ledger to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies.
- Handling Account Inquiries: Responding to and resolving general account inquiries from clients and internal stakeholders.
- Tracking and Monitoring Transactions: Monitoring account transactions and tracking all incoming and outgoing funds.
- Preparing Financial Reports: Assisting in the preparation of financial reports, statements, and budgets.
- Supporting Audits and Tax Preparation: Providing support during audits and assisting with tax preparation.
- Ensuring Compliance: Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- Resolving Discrepancies: Identifying and resolving accounting discrepancies and irregularities in a timely manner.
- Managing Cost Records: Maintaining the company's cost records, including labor, materials, and overhead.
- Initiating Collections: Initiating collections for delinquent accounts.
- Verifying Invoices: Verifying the accuracy of invoices.
- Communicating with Stakeholders: Maintaining effective communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth financial operations.
- Supervising Bookkeeping Staff: In some cases, an Account Officer may supervise an organization's general bookkeeping staff.
