Responsible for Pumps related post order engineering (OE & AM) and pre-order technical support to Sales & Tendering

Principle Duties And Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the engineering team
  • Manage and coordinate all duties associated with Engineering drawings and bills of materials, such as creation, structure, verification, revision, distribution and archiving.
  • Responsible for quality, OTD and efficiency of design and drawing outputs from the team
  • Work with global design centers, after market and service center teams in providing effective design solutions to improve performance and reliability of the products
  • Raising indent/RFQ for all the items as per the BOM along with component QAP, in line with customer’s technical specifications.
  • Supervising team and associated activities to achieve project deadlines, delivered with desired quality and efficiency.
  • Work on refurbishment of OEM products through mechanical upgrades and retrofit options to improve performance and efficiency.
  • Work on replacement and reverse engineering of parts for existing equipment’s ensuring the fit and function of the original part are maintained.
  • Develop innovative and cost-effective mechanical designs using standard procedures, engineering knowledge and experience.
  • Analyze the performance data and the physical condition of the existing/returned parts to identify operational issues and provide design solutions to overcome these issues.
  • Liaise with production, testing, field service engineers/technicians during order execution
  • Works closely with Operations teams and co-ordinates NCR resolutions and associated RCA.
  • Submission of documents as per customer’s Vendor document requirement list as per committed timeline
  • Timely resolution of queries raised by vendors & customers on submitted documents i.e. RFQs, Drawings, data sheets, calculation, procedures.
  • Supervising creation and management of Engineering Change Notices (ECN).
  • Responsible for development and maintenance of departmental procedures and policies in compliance with industry related, and/or Company policies and guidelines.
  • Assessing, planning and delivering training needs to deepen and broaden the technical capability of the Engineering Team, mentoring and supporting Team members.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • 10+years of experience in API pump design engineering function
  • Knowledge of Industry standards on pump manufacturing and testing such as API 610, API 682.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, machine design, fluid mechanics, metallurgy
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as customer specifications, safety rules, Design concepts/layouts, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Experience in issuing BOM, RFQ, drawings, engineering documentation.
  • Strong computer skills with expertise in, AutoCAD, Solid works, MS Excel, Word, Power point
  • Experience in aftermarket engineering process and project management
  • Strong interpersonal skills for communicating thoughts and ideas.
  • Confidence to communicate (written and presentation) with a professional and knowledgeable approach and manner to all levels, including Senior Management, shop floor as well as Customer and Supplier representatives.
  • Team working ability and an attitude of collaboration, mentoring and flexibility.
  • Desire and ability to train others on the skills of the function.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Education And Experience

  • BE / BTech degree in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 10+ years’ experience.
  • Working experience as a Mechanical Engineer for industrial rotating equipment and associated packaging (centrifugal pumps as per API 610).
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a supervisory position managing a technical team of Designers/drafters with accountability of team key performance metrics (OTD, Quality, Efficiency).
