LOCUM CONSULTANT ORTHOPAEDIC SURGEON

FIXED TERM POST – 6 MONTHS

Full time available. Part time or job share applications also welcome.

Basic Salary: £107,144 - £142,369 per annum.

Borders General Hospital is a modern and well-equipped 284 bed DGH serving the rural Borders area in Southeast Scotland, approximately 36 miles from Edinburgh.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Orthopaedics and Trauma team in a modern well-equipped District General Hospital and experience the excellent quality of life of the beautiful and rural Borders area in Southeast Scotland.

The successful applicant(s) would be expected to support the orthopaedic department with a subspeciality interest in foot and ankle surgery. Some experience in primary lower limb arthroplasty would be desirable.

The successful applicant(s) would have shared responsibility for the provision of a general elective and emergency trauma and orthopaedic service and contribute to the supervision and training of the generic training grade doctors (2 FY2, 4 GPST,) and 2 Orthopaedics and Trauma specialty trainees within the department. This position would provide an opportunity to develop and enhance the existing service.

All candidates must possess full GMC Registration and a license and have proven experience in Orthopaedic Surgery and have FRCS (Tr& Orth). Candidates on specialist register for trauma and Orthopaedics would be desirable.
