Job Title: Site Civil Manager – Renewable EPC Projects

Job Overview: The Site Civil Manager in Renewable EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) Projects is responsible for overseeing the entire civil engineering function at the construction site. This position requires leadership, coordination, and a deep understanding of civil engineering practices related to renewable energy projects (e.g., solar, wind). The Site Civil Manager will manage a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring that all civil works are completed according to design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. You will play a key role in ensuring that the project is completed on time, within budget, and meets the required quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Site Management and Leadership:
  • Lead and manage the site civil engineering team, ensuring that all members are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated to complete their tasks.
  • Ensure effective site management practices to promote collaboration, clear communication, and a positive team environment.
  • Oversee the day-to-day civil engineering activities, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of construction works.
  • Project Coordination:
  • Coordinate with other project managers, engineers (electrical, mechanical, environmental), subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure seamless integration of civil works with other project components.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all civil engineering-related matters on-site.
  • Ensure alignment between site operations, procurement, and construction timelines to avoid delays and cost overruns.
  • Construction Oversight:
  • Supervise the construction and installation of civil works, including foundations, access roads, drainage systems, and other infrastructure for renewable energy projects.
  • Ensure all construction work adheres to engineering designs, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Monitor the quality of construction materials, methods, and workmanship through site inspections, audits, and testing.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure that all site operations are conducted in strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Monitor and enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries on-site.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and risk assessments to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure all civil works comply with local regulations, environmental standards, and any permitting requirements.
  • Quality Control and Assurance:
  • Oversee quality control and quality assurance activities, ensuring that civil engineering works meet the highest standards and comply with the approved designs.
  • Implement corrective actions when necessary to address quality issues or non-compliance with specifications.
  • Conduct regular inspections and quality audits to monitor construction progress and quality.
  • Project Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Track project progress, identifying potential delays, issues, or deviations from the plan.
  • Prepare and present progress reports, status updates, and performance analysis to the project management team and key stakeholders.
  • Monitor project budgets, schedules, and resources, ensuring the civil engineering aspects of the project stay within scope and budget.
  • Risk Management:
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with civil works, including delays, safety hazards, and environmental challenges.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to minimize the impact of potential issues on the project schedule or budget.
  • Material and Resource Management:
  • Oversee the procurement and delivery of civil construction materials, ensuring their timely availability and quality.
  • Manage the allocation of site resources, including labor, equipment, and materials, to optimize productivity and minimize waste.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of materials on-site to prevent damage or loss.
  • Stakeholder and Client Management:
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure alignment with expectations and requirements.
  • Address client concerns related to civil engineering aspects and provide timely resolutions.
  • Represent the project in site meetings, client briefings, and government inspections.
  • Training and Development:
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to junior engineers, technicians, and on-site staff.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring the team is up-to-date on the latest construction practices, technologies, and safety standards.
  • Organize training sessions for the team to improve skills and knowledge related to civil works in renewable energy projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in civil engineering, with a significant portion spent in managing civil works on renewable energy projects (solar, wind).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification or equivalent is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of civil construction, including foundation design, drainage systems, road construction, and geotechnical engineering.
  • Strong understanding of the renewable energy industry and specific engineering requirements for renewable EPC projects.
  • Experience with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera, or MS Project).
  • Familiarity with environmental, health, and safety regulations specific to renewable energy projects.
