Are you passionate about freight decarbonization and environmental impact? We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Research Analyst to support Smart Freight Centre India’s growing portfolio of projects focused on reducing emissions in logistics.

If you’re analytical, proactive, and ready to dive into technical work that supports real climate action, we’d love to hear from you.

About Smart Freight Centre:

Think about the package that just arrived at your doorstep. The products on store shelves, or the goods being shipped across oceans. Logistics is everywhere, powering the world we live in. And because it’s everywhere, it’s also one of the biggest contributors to carbon emissions globally.

That’s where Smart Freight Centre (SFC) steps in. We’re tackling the carbon footprint of logistics head-on, working with businesses, governments, and key players around the globe. Our mission? To transform the logistics sector into a zero-emission industry by 2050, or hopefully even sooner. Want to help drive this change? Join us.

About the position:

Smart Freight Centre is expanding its work in India through a growing Green Freight Program built on two pillars: Freight Emissions Accounting and Road Freight Electrification. These projects are developed in close collaboration with shippers, logistics service providers, the public sector, and other key stakeholders.

As a Research Analyst, you'll support a range of technical and research activities that contribute to emissions tracking, economic analysis, and decarbonization strategies. You'll work closely with the SFC global team and local partners to collect data, develop insights, and support implementation planning.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a technical background who wants to apply their skills to a mission-driven, high-impact role in sustainable transport.

Here’s an idea of what tasks you might be working on:

Research and Analysis:

  • Collect and analyze data on freight operations, vehicle technologies, and charging infrastructure
  • Support modeling of economic and environmental performance of zero-emission trucks
  • Review policies, scientific literature, and best practices in freight electrification and emissions

Project and Stakeholder Support:

  • Contribute to India-based projects on freight decarbonization with international visibility
  • Help prepare presentations, white papers, briefing notes, and workshop materials
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders, including government, NGOs, and private sector partners

Content Development and Communication:

  • Write technical content for reports, training materials, case studies, and industry guidance
  • Help develop tools and communication materials to promote emissions accounting and electrification
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and global alignment with SFC’s methodologies

Events and Outreach:

  • Assist in planning webinars, meetings, and industry briefings
  • Represent SFC India in forums and dialogues relevant to sustainable freight
  • Present research findings to diverse audiences

We are looking for someone who has:

  • 2–3 years of experience, ideally including 1–2 years in the freight, energy, or transport sectors
  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering and a Master’s degree in supply chain, environmental science, or sustainability
  • A good understanding of freight decarbonization topics, like electric trucks and emissions accounting
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail: you’re confident working with data and turning it into insights
  • Excellent writing and communication skills: you can clearly explain technical concepts
  • Familiarity with tools like Excel, PowerPoint, and ideally Canva
  • Motivation to contribute to real climate solutions and work with a team that values impact
