Job Overview
The Automation & Control Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining automated systems and processes to enhance operational efficiency and productivity. Work with hardware, software, and control systems to automate repetitive tasks, optimize workflows, and improve system performance. The role often involves programming, troubleshooting, and refining automation solutions to meet specific business or technical needs. Automation Engineers typically collaborate with
other engineering teams, such as Commissioning, Manufacturing and Project.

Work Environment:
This job is operated in a professional office environment and shopfloor/manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

- Creates and modifies Siemens programmable logic controller (PLC) programs for our various ASU, LNG and packaged applications.
- Creates and modifies HMI/SCADA programs for our production.
- Designs engineering systems for the automation of industrial tasks.
- Research selects, or applies the following: sensors, vision systems, communication technologies, control devices for motion control, position sensing, and pressure sensing.
- Identifies and selects materials appropriate for automation system designs.
- Analyze existing development or manufacturing procedures and suggest improvements.
- Creates and modifies programs for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interface (HMI), Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), and motor control devices.
- Use and maintain electrical related software programs.
- Inspects components of industrial equipment for accurate assembly and installation including review of schematics, manuals, or other specifications.
- Coordinate for correcting, preventing, or reducing undesired effects.
- Asist for improving including innovation the performance and effectiveness
- Maintains technical project files.
- Communicates design information and works effectively as a team with manufacturing personnel.
- Installs repaired equipment in various settings.
- Troubleshoots equipment problems.
- Tests faulty equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test equipment or software and applying knowledge of the functional operation of electronic equipment and systems.
- Works continuously to improve existing systems and new projects.
- Works effectively, efficiently, and positively with minimal supervision.
- Promotes and adheres to safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices regulations.
- Attends industry related training.
- Confer with engineering staff to resolve problems.
- Maintain detailed back-up of all control related programs.
- Participate in review meetings of engineering deliverable.
- Handling Projects documents database
- Reviewing / checking of documents SLD, Electrical enclosure GA Layout, Electrical schematic etc.
- Reviewing / Checking Datasheet for components placed on the system as per project specifications.
- Functional testing of electrical equipment and Instruments to minimize commissioning time on site.
- Asist project manager and project engineer for other project activities.
- Create and maintain technical manuals, operation manuals, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Provide technical support to maintenance teams and operators during normal production as well as in emergencies.
- Authorities: Project Documentation Control
- Authority to develop, approve, and release engineering documents and technical documents.
- Ensure the accuracy and consistency of project documentation, and approve changes or updates as needed.
- An experienced automation engineer may be tasked with leading a team of other engineers, technicians, or operators on a specific automation project. This includes setting project goals, timelines, and deliverables, as well as ensuring the team is properly executing tasks according to the plan.
- Engage with project teams, clients, and third-party consultants to communicate design intent and technical requirements.
- Authority to request information, resources, and support from other departments to facilitate design accuracy and project success.
- Provide technical support to installation and commissioning teams, addressing design-related queries and resolving technical issues during project execution.
- Authority to make on-site decisions regarding design adjustments to accommodate real-world challenges and constraints, within agreed project parameters.
- Responsible for making key decisions about system design, upgrades, or changes to ensure that projects align with overall company goals and budgetary constraints.

Qualifications
Education, Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in Industrial Automation Field
- Proficiency in Siemens Automation System, must have hand on Experience in Siemens
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills, with experience working in a crossfunctional, global environment.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and able to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Expertise in PLC/SCADA programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley, etc.)
- Strong understanding of electrical control systems, including sensor integration, motor
- Familiarity with HMI/SCADA systems, as well as communication protocols like Modbus,
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and diagnostics of PLC and automation systems.
- Experience with VFDs and DCS is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Following Siemens software expertise (TIA Portal, WinCC Explorer, Simatic manager, Starter, Siemens PLC/HMI/VFD communication, simulation and testing softwares etc..
- Documentation (Instruction, rung, section).
- HMI knowledge: object type, screen layouts, animation, alarms, scripting
