Role Purpose
The Chief of Staff will act as a senior strategic partner to the Director, ensuring that key priorities are translated into structured action plans and executed across functions, geographies, and business units. The role will provide strong project governance, leadership coordination, business reporting, and operational follow-through across TORQ’s fast-growing international trading and supply-chain platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate strategic priorities into clear, time-bound execution plans.
  • Lead and track cross-functional projects, capex initiatives, acquisitions, and business priorities.
  • Establish PMO-style governance, trackers, dashboards, and monthly review mechanisms.
  • Manage the Director’s office, including meeting preparation, calendar prioritisation, follow-ups, and decision tracking.
  • Coordinate leadership meetings, board reviews, offsites, and management updates.
  • Act as the link between the Director and commercial, operational, finance, HR, IT, and regional teams.
  • Prepare board presentations, investor materials, reports, speeches, and internal communications.
  • Conduct market, competitor, operational, and business research and convert findings into decision-ready memos.
  • Support digital reporting, MIS dashboards, and management information systems.
  • Support strategic hiring, onboarding, annual planning, and performance goal-setting.
  • Handle confidential business, financial, and people-related information with discretion.

Requirements

  • MBA from a Tier 1 institution, preferably with finance, economics, or commerce background.
  • 10+ years post-MBA experience in strategy, operations, programme management, or leadership support.
  • Experience working closely with founders, promoters, CEOs, or senior business leaders.
  • Strong exposure to cross-border business execution, preferably across Africa and Asia.
  • Commodity trading, agri-processing, supply chain, or multi-geography trading experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, financial, project management, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable in a fast-moving, founder-led, execution-heavy environment.
  • Willing to travel internationally around 60% of the time.
