Core Responsibilities

  • Clinical & Neurodiagnostic Excellence
  • Acute Neuro-Critical Care: Oversee the department’s emergency response workflows, including acute ischemic stroke thrombolysis, mechanical thrombectomy coordination, and management of status epilepticus or acute neuromuscular crises.
  • Tertiary Clinical Practice: Manage complex, difficult-to-treat neurological cases in the outpatient department (OPD) and inpatient wards, spanning epilepsy, movement disorders (e.g., Parkinson's), demyelinating diseases (e.g., Multiple Sclerosis), and cognitive disorders.
  • Neurophysiology Super-Vision: Interpret and supervise advanced neurodiagnostic tests, including Electroencephalography (EEG), Electromyography (EMG), Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS), and Evoked Potentials.
  • Academic Direction & Teaching
  • Super-Specialty Guidance: Act as a certified postgraduate and super-specialty guide for $DM$ or $DNB$ Neurology residents, overseeing their clinical skill development and thesis projects.
  • Educational Programming: Design and drive the academic roster, coordinating daily or weekly bed-side clinics, localized mortality meets, neuroradiology rounds, and structured seminars.
  • Examination Assessment: Represent the institution as an internal or external examiner for university super-specialty ($DM/DNB$) board examinations.
  • Scholarly Output & Research
  • Clinical Trials: Initiate and lead multi-centric clinical trials, epidemiological registries (e.g., regional stroke registries), or observational research studies.
  • Scientific Publishing: Maintain academic authority by regularly publishing original research or high-impact reviews in indexed, peer-reviewed international or national journals (e.g., PubMed, Medline, Scopus) as a primary or corresponding author.
  • Administrative & Regulatory Governance
  • Departmental Administration: Manage internal faculty rosters, delegating tasks to Associate and Assistant Professors, and oversee the procurement and maintenance of advanced neurodiagnostic equipment.
  • Regulatory Inspections: Ensure the department meets all structural, faculty-to-student ratio, and infrastructural requirements mandated by national bodies like the National Medical Commission (NMC).

Minimum Qualifications & Eligibility Criteria

Criteria Standard Requirement Basic Medical Degree MBBS from a recognized medical institution. Postgraduate Degree MD or DNB in General Medicine or Pediatrics. Super-Specialty Degree DM or DNB in Neurology. Teaching Experience A minimum of 8 years of post-super-specialty teaching experience, including at least 3 years spent as a designated Associate Professor in an approved teaching medical college.
