Role Summary

This role is responsible for leading Area-level warehouse operations, ensuring efficient material handling, compliance, and team management.

The position also serves as a Digital SME for SAP, Warehouse Management Systems (WM), and ASRS, driving system optimization and data accuracy.

Additionally, the role requires capability to integrate with production scheduling and inventory planning functions, ensuring seamless coordination across supply chain processes and readiness to transition into planning roles.

Role Responsibilities

Warehouse Management activities

  • Planning and execution of day-to-day warehouse operations including receipt, storage, dispensing, and dispatch of materials.
  • Management of semi-finished and finished goods inventory.
  • Ensure material handling as per approved SOPs and procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with cGMP, Quality systems, and safety requirements.
  • Participate in internal and external regulatory inspections.
  • Ensure documentation compliance as per ALCOA principles.

Digital SME

  • Act as Subject Matter Expert for SAP (MM/WM modules), WM systems, Master Data and ASRS operations.
  • Ensure system adherence, data integrity, and accurate transaction handling.
  • Lead digital initiatives, system improvements, and automation projects.
  • Support troubleshooting and optimization of system-driven workflows.

Transition to Planning Roles

  • Develop understanding of MRP, production scheduling, and inventory planning processes.
  • Support demand-supply alignment and inventory positioning.
  • Be prepared to transition into Production Planning or Inventory Planning roles.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Work closely with Production, QA, Procurement, and Engineering teams for seamless material flow.
  • Resolve operational challenges impacting supply chain efficiency.
  • Align warehouse operations with upstream and downstream planning requirements.

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Lead and manage warehouse teams including training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Build capability within team for multi-functional supply chain roles.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

GDP and GLP practices

  • Ensure Good laboratory Practices.
  • Ensure Good Documentation Practices as per ALCOA principles.
  • Ensure 5S practices in workplace.
  • Technical writing and document review.

Essential Requirements

Preferred Education/ Qualification

Graduate / Postgraduate in Pharmacy or Graduate/Postgraduate (Preferably Science).

Experience

15+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, understanding the Quality, Regulatory, cGMP and Safety operations

Core Competencies

  • Diploma in Materials Management (additional qualification).

Standards,Processes & Policies

  • Understanding of cGMP, GDP and GLP concepts of Pharmaceutical Industry.
  • Experience in investigations and suggesting CAPA (Action item).
  • Good documentation practices.
