Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Accounting, Reporting & Financial Close

  • Contribute to the end-to-end monthly, quarterly, and annual close process for India legal entities, ensuring timely completion of assigned activities and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare accounting schedules, close working papers, statutory book support, and other documentation required for legal entity reporting.
  • Maintain books of account in compliance with Indian GAAP, Companies Act requirements, and other applicable regulatory standards.
  • Support period-end accounting activities, including accruals, provisions, prepayments, and other close-related adjustments.
  • Prepare, analyze, and validate key balance sheet reconciliations, including bank reconciliations and supporting schedules, to ensure balances are accurate, complete, and properly substantiated.
  • Identify and follow up on reconciling items, aged balances, and open issues to support timely resolution and clean reporting.

Tax, Regulatory & Statutory Compliance

  • Assist with India tax compliance requirements, including GST, TDS/withholding tax, corporate tax, and related statutory filings.
  • Prepare tax schedules, reconciliations, data inputs, and supporting documentation required for returns, filings, assessments, and audits.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, external consultants, and tax advisors to ensure compliance deliverables are completed accurately and within prescribed timelines.
  • Support responses to tax notices, assessments, audits, and information requests by collating required documentation and explanations.
  • Assist with STPI and other export-related compliance requirements, including maintaining documentation, preparing periodic reports, and supporting submissions as applicable.
  • Track compliance timelines and help ensure all regulatory obligations for India entities are monitored and completed on schedule.

Audit, Controls & Compliance Support

  • Support the preparation of financial statements and related disclosures.
  • Assist with statutory audits, tax audits, group audits, and internal audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, supporting evidence, and management responses for assigned areas.
  • Work with auditors and internal teams to address audit queries and ensure timely closure of audit requirements.
  • Support the execution and documentation of internal financial controls, including evidence preparation, control testing support, and remediation tracking.
  • Monitor audit observations, compliance action items, and control-related deliverables to ensure timely follow-up and resolution.
  • Assist in managing recurring statutory compliance activities in collaboration with external compliance partners and internal business teams.

Stakeholder Management & Process Coordination

  • Partner with auditors, advisors, service providers, and internal finance teams to support seamless execution of accounting, tax, audit, and compliance activities.
  • Maintain compliance calendars, status trackers, process notes, and documentation repositories for India finance and legal entity activities.
  • Coordinate activities performed by external providers, ensuring appropriate internal review, oversight, escalation, and follow-through.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process gaps, improving documentation, and helping standardize recurring finance and compliance activities.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively on status updates, pending items, risks, and timelines to relevant stakeholders.

Experience Required

  • Finance professional with relevant hands on experience across accounting, audit, tax, compliance, and financial reporting.
  • Hands-on exposure to legal entity accounting, month-end close processes, balance sheet reviews, and statutory reporting under Indian GAAP and the Companies Act.
  • Working knowledge of India tax and regulatory compliance requirements, including GST, TDS/withholding tax, corporate tax, STPI, and related reporting obligations.
  • Experience supporting statutory audits, internal audits, tax audits, and control reviews, including preparation of audit schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Strong analytical ability with excellent reconciliation, problem-solving, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to interpret financial data, investigate variances, resolve open items, and ensure accounting accuracy.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with the ability to quickly learn and work with new finance systems and reporting tools.
  • Experience with Oracle would be an added advantage.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree and Masters Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Chartered Accountant, preferred, not mandatory.
