What a “Principal PM” means to us

At this level, "Principal" signifies a person who serves as a primary architect of our product culture and strategy. You are a peer to senior engineering and design leadership, responsible for ensuring our product ecosystem is cohesive, scalable, and commercially dominant. You represent the "voice of the product" in high-level business discussions and act as a force multiplier for every team you touch. To us, this role means owning high-stakes product outcomes that span across multiple squads, ensuring that our technical capabilities are always aligned with our long-term commercial goals.

  • Strategy & Vision: Translate our company mission into a multi-year product roadmap that anticipates market shifts.
  • Organizational Strategy: Identify and bridge gaps between business goals and technical execution across multiple product domains.
  • Market Leadership: Conduct high-level market and competitive analysis to pivot or double down on long-term growth levers.
  • Craft Excellence: Define and implement the "gold standard" for product discovery, delivery, and measurement across the organization.
  • Operational Excellence: Identify bottlenecks in our delivery process and implement scalable solutions to improve velocity and quality.
  • Cross-functional Orchestration: Bridge the gap between Engineering, Design, Sales, and Marketing to ensure a unified product voice.
  • Mentorship: Elevate the craft of product management across the organization by sharing best practices and refining our internal playbooks.
  • Strategic Advocacy: Influence executive stakeholders and the Board by articulating a clear, data-backed vision for the future of our platform.

What we consider relevant qualifications, experience and knowledge

To succeed in this role and fast-track toward an Associate position, you should bring:

  • Experience: 10+ years of product management experience, with at least 2 years at a Staff or Principal level within a fast-scaling tech environment and a proven track record of delivering massive impact in high-complexity environments .
  • Domain Expertise: Proven track record of managing complex, multi-sided platforms or high-growth B2B/B2C products.
  • Technical Literacy: A deep understanding of system architecture and the ability to hold your own in technical discussions with Engineers.
  • Communication: Exceptional storytelling skills, you can simplify the complex for a board-level audience.
  • Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to drive product strategy from inception to post-launch optimization.
  • Mentorship at Scale: Experience coaching Senior and Staff-level PMs, elevating the talent density of your previous organizations.
  • Leadership & Influence: Expert-level stakeholder management skills; you can navigate conflicting priorities and drive consensus at the VP and C-suite level.

Performance indicators to get you off to a great start

We don’t expect you to know everything on Day 1, but we do expect you to grow fast. Here is how we will measure your success:

  • Day 30: Conduct a "listening tour" across the organization and present an initial assessment of our current product gaps and opportunities.
  • Day 60: Take full ownership of a major strategic initiative and define a clear 6-month roadmap with validated KPIs.
  • Day 90: Successfully lead one major product release or framework improvement and begin mentoring at least one Senior PM on specific craft skills.
