Duties and Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment and Diagnosis:
- Evaluate patients' medical histories and symptoms.
- Conduct physical and diagnostic tests to diagnose neurological disorders.
- Order and interpret neuroimaging studies such as MRIs and CT scans.
- Surgical Procedures:
- Perform intricate surgeries on the brain, spine, and peripheral nerves.
- Use surgical techniques to treat conditions such as tumors, vascular disorders, trauma, and degenerative diseases.
- Operate robotic mechanisms for non-invasive procedures.
- Post-Operative Care:
- Monitor patient recovery and healing post-surgery.
- Prescribe medications for pain management and other post-operative needs.
- Conduct follow-up appointments to assess patient progress.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work with other healthcare professionals, including neurologists, therapists, and nurses, to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families about surgical procedures, potential risks, and outcomes.
- Keep detailed records of patients' diagnoses, treatments, and medical histories.
- Research and Continuing Education:
- Stay informed about advancements in neurosurgery and adapt to new technologies and techniques.
- Conduct research to advance the understanding and treatment of neurological disorders.
- Educational Requirements:
- Medical degree (M.Ch or DrNB with 5 yrs of experience post degre).
- Completion of a neurosurgery residency program.
