CREDIT CONTROLLER
Job Summary

We are looking for a passionate individual to be part of our journey .We are seeking a diligent and proactive Credit Controller to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the company’s credit, ensuring timely payment of outstanding invoices, handling collection processes, and reducing the overall accounts receivable balances. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. The Credit Controller will play a critical role in minimizing bad debts and optimizing the company’s financial performance. The successful incumbent will also carry out routine bookkeeping duties including calculating interest on overdue accounts related to customers for all the companies within the group.

Key Responsibilities
Credit Management
  • Monitor and manage outstanding balances to ensure timely collection of debts.
  • Maintain accurate records of all credit transactions and follow up with clients on overdue invoices.
Debt Collection
  • Proactively contact customers regarding overdue payments.
  • Maintain accurate records of all credit and collection activities, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
Account Management
  • Work with the finance team, to reconcile customer accounts and resolve any discrepancies or disputes promptly.
  • Administering the debtor’s book.
  • Weekly reporting to the head of department on progress made on debtor’s accounts
Customer Relations:
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to facilitate prompt payment and resolve any billing issues.
  • Communicate effectively with customers via phone, email, and letters to address payment queries and discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure a seamless customer experience and resolve any credit-related issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willing to work overtime when required
Risk Management
  • Identify potential risk accounts and take appropriate actions to mitigate financial exposure.
Cashflow Management
  • Ensuring that turnaround times, deadlines and cash-flow requirements are met.
  • Track payment progress and follow up on missed payments or broken payment plans.
  • Work with customers to develop payment plans that are mutually agreeable and feasible.
  • Create detailed cash flow forecasts to anticipate inflows
  • Manage forecasted cash flow needs.
Legal and Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant legislation regarding credit control and debt collection.
  • Coordinate with legal teams for the collection of overdue debts and the initiation of legal actions if necessary.

Qualifications and Skills
Education: Tertiary, or related field.
Professional certification in credit management will be advantageous.
Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in credit control, accounts receivable, or a similar role.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Sage and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
Interpersonal Skills: Strong customer service orientation and ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to negotiate payment terms and handle difficult conversations professionally.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
