Chemical Engineering All areas of Chemical Engineering Ph.D. with first class or equivalent in the preceding degree in an appropriate branch with a very good academic record throughout. Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. Civil Engineering All areas of Civil Engineering Ph.D. with first class or equivalent in the preceding degree in an appropriate branch with a very good academic record throughout. Must possess a 4-year Bachelor’s degree or a 5-year integrated Master’s degree in Civil Engineering. Computer Science and Engineering All areas of Computer Science and Engineering Ph.D. with first class or equivalent in the preceding degree in an appropriate branch with a very good academic record throughout. Must possess a 4-year Bachelor’s degree or 2-year Master’s degree or 5-year integrated Master’s degree in Design, Technology, Engineering, Architecture, Management, Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Physiology (Ergonomics). Manufacturing: Material science and metal additive manufacturing (laser powder bed fusion, Digital Twin, AI); Processing of ceramic materials (raw material development); Digital Manufacturing; Materials science and metallurgy; Robotics and Automation; Supply Chain and Operations Management; Smart Materials & Manufacturing; Process monitoring and control. - Essential Qualification (overall):

- Experience:
- For Assistant Professor Grade II: Less than 3 years of post-Ph.D. teaching/research/industrial experience.
- For Assistant Professor Grade I: At least 3 years of post-Ph.D. teaching/research/industrial experience.
- Age:
- Candidates should preferably be below 35 years of age as on the date of advertisement (20.12.2025).
- Age relaxation as per GoI norms:
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC-NCL: 3 years
- PwBD: 5 years (10 years for SC/ST PwBD, 8 years for OBC-NCL PwBD).
- Reservation:

Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) invites online applications from eligible candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwBD categories for faculty positions at the level of Assistant Professor (Grade I & Grade II) in various Departments and Schools.
The positions are open in multiple disciplines of Engineering, Science, Design, Management, and Humanities, with a focus on candidates having an excellent academic record, a Ph.D. degree, and specialization in specified areas.
Designation
- Assistant Professor (Grade II)
- Pay Level: 10 & 11 (7th CPC)
- Experience: Less than 3 years of post-Ph.D. teaching/research/industrial experience
- Assistant Professor (Grade I)
- Pay Level: 12 (7th CPC)
- Experience: At least 3 years of post-Ph.D. teaching/research/industrial experience
- Engage in high-quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in their respective Department/School.
- Conduct independent research in their area of specialization, leading to publications, sponsored projects, and research guidance.
- Contribute to curriculum development, laboratory development, and academic administration.
- Participate in institutional activities, including departmental committees, outreach, and other duties assigned by the Institute.
- Pay and Allowances: As per Government of India rules.
- Certificates Required (to be uploaded with application):
- Educational qualification certificates from 10th standard onwards, including the certificate mentioning date of completion of Ph.D.
- Experience certificates with signature and seal of employer.
- Valid SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwBD certificates in the prescribed GoI format.
