Chief Operating Officer

Location: Mumbai, India Reports to: Managing Director & CEO Industry: Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) / Financial Services Function: CXO / Leadership

Our client, a growing and well-capitalized Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) based in India, is looking for a seasoned Chief Operating Officer to drive operational excellence, scale, and execution across the organization. This is a high-impact leadership mandate, working closely with the MD & CEO to shape the company's next phase of growth.

As COO, you will be the operational backbone of the organization — translating strategy into execution across lending operations, technology, risk, collections, and customer service. You will own end-to-end operational efficiency, process rigor, and scalability as the company expands its loan book, product lines, and geographic footprint.

• Own end-to-end business operations, including loan origination, underwriting support, disbursement, servicing, and collections
• Partner with the MD & CEO to translate strategic priorities into operational plans and measurable execution
• Drive process automation, digital lending infrastructure, and technology-led operational efficiency
• Build robust, scalable operating processes to support branch/channel expansion and product diversification
• Strengthen risk, compliance, and audit frameworks in coordination with Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit functions
• Lead and mentor functional heads across Operations, Technology, Customer Service, and Collections
• Monitor key operational metrics (TAT, cost-to-income, NPA management support, customer satisfaction) and drive continuous improvement
• Ensure regulatory adherence to RBI guidelines and NBFC-specific compliance requirements
• Manage vendor, partner, and channel relationships critical to operational delivery
  

• 20-25+ years of progressive experience in NBFC, banking, or broader financial services operations, with at least 5+ years in a COO or senior operations leadership role
• Strong understanding of lending operations, credit lifecycle, and digital lending platforms
• Demonstrated experience scaling operations in a high-growth, regulated financial services environment
• Working knowledge of RBI regulatory framework applicable to NBFCs
• Strong track record in technology-driven process transformation and automation
• MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification from a premier institute
• Excellent stakeholder management, team-building, and execution capability
