About the Role

As the Lead Data Analyst-Rural Banking , you will be responsible for driving data-led decision-making across rural banking initiatives. This role involves applying advanced analytics, data modelling, and visualization techniques to uncover insights that support financial inclusion, optimize product performance, and improve customer engagement in rural markets. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to build scalable data solutions and lead strategic projects that align with the bank’s rural growth agenda.

Key Responsibilities

Analytical & Technical Responsibilities

  • Implement data analytics to generate actionable insights using statistical methods, predictive modelling, and data visualization.
  • Assess the value of rural data to support business objectives and gain competitive advantage.
  • Conduct quality assurance audits and implement follow-up actions to improve data accuracy and process reliability.
  • Develop and apply machine learning algorithms and computational models to support rural banking strategies.
  • Interpret data using modelling techniques to address business requirements such as credit scoring, customer segmentation, and product uptake.
  • Monitor emerging technologies and evaluate their relevance and potential impact on rural banking operations.
  • Partner with business, risk, and product teams to identify opportunities for data-driven decision making.
  • Lead analysis of customer behavior, portfolio performance, revenue drivers, and risk exposure.
  • Translate analytical findings into actionable insights for senior stakeholders.
  • Guide and mentor junior analysts; review and validate their outputs.
  • Identify skill gaps and recommend appropriate training and tooling to enhance team capabilities.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with governance standards.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to streamline pipelines and improve data quality.
  • Automate recurring reports and establish best practices in analytics.
  • Leverage tools like SQL, Python/R, Power BI/Tableau for advanced analysis and visualization.
  • Support initiatives in credit risk, fraud detection, and campaign effectiveness.

Managerial & Leadership Responsibilities

  • Identify current business needs and provide practical, strategic solutions with a holistic view of rural banking operations.

What We Are Looking For

Education

  • Graduation: BSC or BCA or B.Tech.
  • Post-graduation: MBA or MSC or MCA or M.Tech or MA

Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in data analytics, with strong exposure to rural banking, financial inclusion, or development finance.
  • Proven track record of leading analytics teams and delivering business impact through data-driven strategies.

Skills and Attributes

  • Expertise in data modelling, statistical analysis, and machine learning.
  • Strong understanding of rural banking products, customer behaviour, and market dynamics.
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and strategic thinking capabilities.
