Role Overview-
You will lead design and development for the womenswear wovens category, owning trend direction, range planning, fabric & trims development, and print/graphic execution. As Deputy Manager, you will translate brand strategy into commercially viable product stories, mentor junior designers, drive sampling timelines, and partner closely with merchandising, production, and marketing to deliver sell-through and margin targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Trend forecasting & research
- Lead seasonal trend research and forecasting aligned to brand DNA and commercial targets.
- Translate trend insight into unique, non-overlapping seasonal concepts and merchandising white space.
- Conduct regular online and market research, competitor benchmarking, and consumer insight analysis.
Range direction & planning
- Create cohesive seasonal stories and directional themes covering mood, color story, fabrications, techniques, and silhouettes.
- Develop seasonal color palettes, fabric lists, and trim boards aligned to calendar and margin targets.
- Propose product architecture (core, key, and exploratory SKUs) to meet business goals.
- Prepare and present final range presentations to senior stakeholders.
Design & development
- Lead print and graphic development from concept to strike-off, ensuring strong visual storytelling and technical accuracy.
- Create detailed tech packs with construction details, measurements, BOM, prints/placement specs, and finishing instructions.
- Approve samples in collaboration with the Design lead, including colorways, fittings, trims, and final styling.
- Introduce new techniques, textures, constructions, and base fabrics to differentiate the assortment while maintaining cost discipline.
- Ensure timely turnarounds to meet season deadlines and GTM calendar.
Cross-functional collaboration
- Work closely with merchandising to align assortment with sales forecasts, intake margins, and sell-through objectives.
- Coordinate with sourcing and production teams/vendors to resolve sampling, fit, and quality issues.
- Share product highlights, moods, and storyboards with marketing and visual teams for photoshoots and campaigns.
- Review previous season performance and retail feedback to drive iterative improvements.
People & process
- Mentor and guide junior designers; provide constructive feedback and ensure adherence to design standards.
- Maintain PLM/Franchise uploads and keep product records and files up to date.
- Ensure strict adherence to the Go-to-Market calendar and internal processes.
