Job Title: PTI CFD STAR CCM Developer

Job Description

This role focuses on developing and maintaining standalone applications using a high level of expertise in the Java programming language. The position involves building both front-end user interfaces and back-end logic, while integrating with commercial engineering analysis software through an established framework. The developer will contribute to robust, efficient, and reliable solutions that support computational engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain standalone applications using Java, implementing both front-end (UI) components and back-end logic.
  • Create intuitive and responsive user interfaces that enable efficient interaction with engineering analysis tools.
  • Develop and optimize back-end services to ensure reliable performance, scalability, and maintainability of applications.
  • Interface with commercial engineering analysis software using the designated framework to enable seamless data exchange and workflow integration.
  • Implement and maintain APIs to support communication between applications and external systems, including testing and validation of API functionality.
  • Write and maintain scripts in Bash, Windows .bat, and Perl to automate workflows, support deployment processes, and streamline system operations.
  • Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to understand requirements and translate them into effective software solutions.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues across the application stack, including UI, back-end logic, and integration layers.
  • Ensure code quality through best practices such as clean coding standards, documentation, and structured testing.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and integration methods with engineering analysis software.

Essential Skills

  • Strong proficiency in the Java programming language, with experience developing both front-end user interfaces and back-end logic for standalone applications.
  • Hands-on experience interfacing with commercial engineering analysis software via an established framework.
  • Practical experience with API testing to validate integration points and ensure reliable communication between systems.
  • Working knowledge of Hibernate or similar Java persistence frameworks for data access and management.
  • Proficiency in scripting with Bash for automation and workflow support on Unix-like systems.
  • Ability to write and maintain Windows .bat scripts to support automation and system tasks in Windows environments.
  • Experience with Perl scripting for automation, data processing, or integration tasks.
  • Solid understanding of software development principles, including modular design, maintainability, and performance optimization.

  • Experience working in environments that integrate software applications with commercial engineering analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with testing methodologies and tools for validating APIs and application integrations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and engineering stakeholders to gather requirements and refine solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail when diagnosing and resolving software issues.
  • Effective communication skills for documenting work, explaining technical concepts, and supporting cross-functional collaboration.

Work Environment

The role is centered around developing standalone applications and integration solutions that work closely with commercial engineering analysis software. You will primarily work with Java-based applications, supported by scripting in Bash, Windows .bat, and Perl to automate tasks and streamline workflows.
