Scope and Responsibilities:
Based in Hyderabad, the Associate/Senior Associate will assist with the execution of key areas of the firm’s compliance program as a generalist within the Enterprise Compliance team. Reporting to Senior Vice President of Compliance, the role focuses on anti-money laundering (AML), anti-bribery and corruption (ABC), and Code of Ethics functions for Oaktree. This role will support compliance oversight for private investment funds and related legal entities domiciled in multiple jurisdictions, ensuring adherence to applicable regulatory frameworks and internal policies.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in client onboarding requests, with a focus on maintaining compliance with relevant anti-money laundering regulations and industry best practices for financial crimes compliance.
- Assist with performing ongoing monitoring, sanctions screening, risk assessments, and periodic investor reviews.
- Support in the administration of the firm’s Enterprise compliance team, including Code of Ethics related topics such as code subjectivity, personal trading, gifts and entertainment, and private investments.
- Support and maintain the firm’s anti-bribery and corruption framework.
- Provide, organize and execute compliance learning campaigns for Oaktree employees.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g. legal, client services, investment professionals, human resources) to ensure compliance requirements are met.
- Assist in ad hoc projects as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 5-7 years of compliance experience preferably with a SEC-registered investment advisor, asset manager, or financial services firm, with a focus on AML, ABC, code of ethics, and general compliance program support.
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g. Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, SEC expectations for private funds, Financial Action Task Force guidance, Cayman Islands/CIMA guidance).
- Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Prior experience with sanctions screening tools preferred but not required.
- Outstanding initiative, motivation and detail orientation with strong work ethic and excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly build credibility and gain confidence of individuals at all levels.
- Ability to work well under pressure and with time constraints.
- Proven ability to manage tasks with competing priorities and deadlines.
- Team-oriented and able to partner with colleagues to achieve shared goals.
