This role falls in to the category of requiring a DBS check (standard).* ***About the role: *** A vacancy has arisen for a Biomedical Scientist (BMS) permanent night worker in our Clinical Biochemistry Department based at Watford and Hemel Hempstead Hospitals. As part of the commissioning of the Hertfordshire and West Essex (HWE) Pathology service HSL will establish a new hub laboratory based at 7 Croxley Park, Watford. This newly developed hub laboratory will provide pathology testing across a range of disciplines including Sample Reception, Biochemistry, Haematology, Routine Coagulation and Microbiology. It is an expectation that some staff based within the Watford and Hemel hospital sites may transfer across to the new hub when this becomes operational in 2026. The laboratory at Watford provides 24/7 clinical biochemistry testing for acute and urgent care areas of the hospital as well as some onsite testing for the local community. The successful candidate will join our team of dedicated biomedical scientists and associate practitioners in delivering a high-quality pathology service. As a permanent night worker, this post offers the opportunity to broaden your skills and experience in a busy Blood Sciences Laboratory as well as the chance to work a non-standard shift pattern which will be of benefit to those seeking a better work/life balance. Permanent night workers will receive an additional uplift to their pay commensurate with working the balance of their hours during unsocial hours. The ideal candidate will be committed to service excellence and have a genuine desire for continued personal and professional development. Candidates should have a suitable approved undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science (or equivalent) and be registered with the HCPC.
