About The Role
Product Expert – Safety & Medical is accountable for all aspects of the Safety and Medical technology ecosystem, including business and technical analysis, backlog management, agile delivery, operational performance, enhancements, replacements, and future capability roadmaps.
The Product Expert partners closely with Safety, Medical Affairs, Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, and Digital & Technology teams to deliver and continuously improve technology solutions that support pharmacovigilance, adverse event management, signal detection, risk management, medical information, scientific engagement, evidence generation, and regulatory compliance.
In addition, the Product Expert is responsible for all business-as-usual (BAU) activities within the Safety and Medical landscape, ensuring reliable, compliant, and uninterrupted operations.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Strategy & Enablement
- Develop and maintain the technology vision and roadmap for Safety and Medical capabilities aligned to Haleon's R&D and Consumer Health strategy.
- Partner with Safety, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Clinical, and Innovation PPM teams to identify digital opportunities that improve operational efficiency, compliance, and scientific decision-making.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, AI-enabled solutions, automation opportunities, and advanced analytics capabilities within the Safety and Medical domains.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, compliant, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
- Collaborate with senior business stakeholders to manage and prioritize the product backlog based on business value, compliance requirements, patient safety considerations, and strategic objectives.
- Balance investments across innovation, operational excellence, compliance, and technical debt reduction.
- Lead delivery, enhancement, and lifecycle management of Safety and Medical technology platforms.
- Develop and maintain product roadmaps in partnership with Product Managers and business stakeholders.
- Ensure successful execution of projects, releases, and enhancements using Agile methodologies.
- Drive automation and process optimization opportunities across Safety and Medical functions.
- Ensure all technology solutions supporting Pharmacovigilance and Medical Affairs comply with applicable regulations, quality standards, and internal governance requirements.
- Support GxP validation, audit readiness, inspection preparedness, data integrity, and computer system validation activities.
- Ensure appropriate documentation, controls, and risk management processes are maintained.
- Own operational performance and service management processes for Safety and Medical applications.
- Manage vendor relationships, support escalations, issue resolution, platform upgrades, and lifecycle management.
- Ensure SLAs, KPIs, and operational metrics are consistently achieved.
- Enable reporting and analytics capabilities that provide insights into adverse event trends, safety signals, medical inquiries, scientific engagement, and operational performance.
- Partner with Data & Analytics teams to deliver dashboards, metrics, and AI-enabled insights.
- Ensure effective data governance and data quality standards across Safety and Medical platforms.
- Drive adoption of new capabilities through stakeholder engagement, communication, training, and change management activities.
- Champion agile ways of working and continuous improvement across cross-functional teams.
- Build stakeholder confidence by demonstrating measurable business value and operational outcomes.
Qualifications & Skills
- 8 - 14 years of experience in relevant field.
- Expert knowledge of Pharmacovigilance, Drug/Product Safety, Medical Affairs, and Medical Information processes.
- Experience with one or more industry-leading Safety and Medical platforms such as:
- Veeva Safety
- ArisGlobal LifeSphere
- Oracle Argus Safety
- MedDRA
- Medical Information platforms
- Medical Content Management systems
- Signal Detection and Risk Management solutions
- Strong understanding of:
- Pharmacovigilance regulations
- GxP compliance
- Computer System Validation (CSV)
- Data Integrity principles
- Global Health Authority requirements
- Experience managing SaaS and enterprise technology products.
- Experience working within Agile product delivery methodologies.
- Strong stakeholder management skills across Safety, Medical, Clinical, Regulatory, and Quality functions.
- Experience supporting AI and automation initiatives within Safety or Medical Affairs.
- Familiarity with:
- Safety signal detection and management
- Risk Management Plans (RMPs)
- Aggregate reporting processes
- Medical Insights generation
- Scientific content management
- Experience with Power BI, Azure, Snowflake, or advanced analytics platforms.
- Experience managing global vendors and strategic technology partners.
