About the opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Costing Merchandiser to prepare accurate product costings for a women’s ethnic wear brand. The role involves calculating fabric consumption, trims, processing, and production costs, coordinating with sourcing, product development, merchandising, and production teams, maintaining costing databases, and ensuring timely submission of cost sheets and quotations while supporting cost optimization and profitability.

Key responsibilities

  • Dissect and calculate detailed garment costs, including fabric consumption, trims, packaging, processing, and baseline production charges.

  • Maintain and continuously update critical production sheets, including the Bill of Materials (BOM), cost cards, pricing databases, marker efficiency logs, blocking parameters, and overall fabric yield metrics.

  • Partner closely with sourcing, product development, merchandising, and factory production teams to ensure cost alignments before bulk production.

  • Analyze existing cost structures to pinpoint practical avenues for cost reduction without compromising design integrity or fabric quality.

  • Evaluate the cost feasibility of upcoming sample designs to ensure they align with commercial margin goals before being approved for production.

  • Manage tight turnaround times for the timely submission of raw quotes, final garment costings, and comprehensive operational reports.

Key skills & qualifications

  • 1–3 years of hands-on experience in garment costing, production merchandising, or apparel manufacturing. Experience working within the garment export industry is a strong plus.

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Fashion Design (FD), Garment Manufacturing Technology (GMT), or Apparel Merchandising & Management (AMM) from NIFT, Pearl Academy, or a premier textile institute.

  • Solid understanding of women's ethnic wear costing processes, fabric properties, traditional printing/dyeing techniques, embroidery workmanship, and overall garment construction.

  • Advanced command over MS Excel / Google Sheets with a natural affinity for data manipulation and fast, complex mathematical calculations.

  • Highly organized professional with strong follow-up habits, sharp coordination skills, and a proactive attitude toward solving real-time production bottlenecks.
