Job Description

The Database Extraction & Restoration Engineer is responsible for extracting, validating, and restoring data from various source systems into target platforms while ensuring data accuracy, security, and compliance. This role involves working with large-scale healthcare and enterprise databases, troubleshooting extraction and restoration issues, and collaborating with project managers, developers, Data Migration Engineer, QA teams, and clients.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Database Extraction

Extract data from source systems including Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Cache, and proprietary healthcare systems.
Execute extraction utilities and custom scripts.
Monitor extraction processes and troubleshoot failures.
Validate extracted data against source systems.
Generate extraction reports and row count validations.

Database Restoration

Restore extracted data into target environments such as Snowflake, SQL Server, Oracle, and cloud platforms.
Create and manage database schemas, tables, indexes, and constraints.
Perform backup, rename, truncate, and recovery operations.
Execute bulk data loads using approved utilities and scripts.
Monitor restoration performance and optimize loading processes.

Project & Client Support

Participate in project planning, extraction and restoration activities.
Communicate status updates to stakeholders.
Create technical documentation and workflow guide.
Support Project manager and client meetings and troubleshooting sessions.

Qualifications

Technical Skills

Databases: Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Snowflake, PostgreSQL & MySQL.
Query Languages: SQL, PL/SQL and & T-SQL
Operating Systems: Windows Server.
File Formats: CSV, TXT, XLSX, TSV, DAT and BACPAC

Soft Skills

Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Ability to manage, adapt and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
Attention to detail and data accuracy.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities

Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Database Administration, or related field.

Experience

2+ years of experience in data extraction, restoration or migration roles.
Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance within healthcare settings, ensuring adherence to HIPAA and other regulations
