Job Overview
A quality engineer is in charge of ensuring that manufactured items for Marine services satisfy high standards of quality. The objective of quality engineering is always to provide a high-quality product.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Ensure marine products meet customer, class, and regulatory requirements.
- Review inspection and test records for compliance.
- Identify and report quality issues.
- Support continuous improvement activities.
- Incoming Inspection of Raw material.
- Stage inspection of pressure vessel & piping skid.
- Visual Inspection of welding joints.
- Calibration of measuring instruments.
- Pressure testing of vessel & piping skid.
- Helium & Vacuum inspection.
- Blasting & Painting inspection.
- Issue NCR
- Final documentation.
- Responsibility to ensure the conformity to its integrated management system
- Responsibility to ensure conformity to Marine Class Society.
- Responsibility for reporting the performance of the IMS and on opportunity for improvement, in particular to Management.
- Responsibility for measuring, monitoring, analysis, and evaluation of IMS Objective
- Responsibility for maintained and be made available extended necessary of organizational knowledge.
- Responsibility for retaining and maintaining documented information
- Responsibility for evaluate the performance and the effectiveness of IMS
- Responsibility for correcting, preventing, or reducing undesired effects.
- Approve products that meet specified requirements.
- Reject or hold non-conforming products.
- Request corrective actions for quality issues.
- Escalate critical quality concerns to management.
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
Qualifications
Education, Experience and skills
- Diploma Mechanical / BE Mechanical
- Minimum 1-5 (BE) Years or 3-7 (Diploma) years of experience required.
- Good understanding of Marine Class rules and requirements.
- Knowledge of marine product specifications and standards.
- Ability to review and interpret technical drawings and documents.
- Familiarity with quality inspection and testing requirements.
- Sound mathematical and technical skills.
- Good investigative and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to think logically and methodically.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Decision making ability coupled with the ability to work independently and proactively.
- Knowledge of statistical packages and Microsoft Office systems normally required.
- Proficient in the use of measuring equipment, Faro Arm, Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gage
- Dimensional inspection experience of machined components.
- Previous exposure to a machine shop, foundry or sheet metal shop.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Quality System auditing and reporting experience.
- In depth working knowledge of IECEx ATEXISO 9001 standards.
- Understanding standard manufacturing and safety compliance processes.
