Cae Analyst - Safety Analyst
Actalent
Job Description
This role focuses on performing advanced CAE simulations to evaluate full vehicle crashworthiness for high-speed front and side impacts. You will use LS-DYNA and related tools to analyze structural performance, apply safety CAE standard procedures, and deliver high-quality results, reports, and design recommendations that help vehicles meet stringent impact safety performance targets and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform CAE simulations to evaluate full vehicle crashworthiness performance for high-speed front and side impacts using LS-DYNA.
- Apply established safety CAE standard work procedures for impact simulations to ensure consistent, reliable, and high-quality results.
- Generate accurate simulation outputs, reports, and presentations that clearly communicate findings, methodologies, and recommendations to engineering and product development teams.
- Develop feasible and timely vehicle design recommendations and technical solutions that help meet impact safety performance targets and regulatory requirements.
- Create and refine structural models, including quick meshing and connections, to support iterative studies and design optimization.
- Use tools such as PRIMER, METAPOST, HyperMesh, rrad scripts, and other CAE software to set up, run, and post-process crash simulations.
- Incorporate domain knowledge of safety regulations and standards, including NCAP and FMVSS, into simulation setups and design assessments.
- Participate in technical discussions with product development and customer teams, providing clear insights and guidance based on simulation results.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering groups to align CAE findings with overall vehicle design, safety targets, and project timelines.
- Continuously improve simulation practices and workflows by leveraging best practices, lessons learned, and evolving safety requirements.
- Hands-on experience performing CAE simulations for full vehicle crashworthiness, specifically front and side high-speed impact analysis.
- Strong proficiency with LS-DYNA for crash and impact simulations.
- Working knowledge of PRIMER and METAPOST for pre-processing and post-processing CAE models and results.
- Ability to perform quick meshing and define structural connections for iterative studies and design optimization.
- Experience with HyperMesh and other CAE tools commonly used in crash and safety analysis.
- Capability to generate clear, detailed simulation outputs, reports, and presentations for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Domain knowledge of vehicle safety regulations and standards, including NCAP and FMVSS.
- Ability to participate effectively in technical discussions with product development teams and customers, demonstrating strong communication and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with scripting tools such as rrad scripts or similar utilities to streamline CAE workflows and data handling.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied to structural performance, impact safety, and vehicle design challenges.
- Experience as a safety analyst or crash analyst working on vehicle impact and crashworthiness projects.
- Structural engineering, mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, or a related discipline.
- Familiarity with broader safety design principles and methodologies in automotive product development.
- Ability to manage multiple simulation tasks and iterative studies while meeting project deadlines.
- Attention to detail in model setup, validation, and documentation to maintain high-quality simulation standards.
You will work in a technology-driven engineering environment focused on vehicle safety and crashworthiness. The role involves extensive use of CAE tools such as LS-DYNA, PRIMER, METAPOST, HyperMesh, and scripting utilities like rrad scripts to support simulation workflows. You collaborate closely with product development and customer-facing teams, often participating in technical reviews and design discussions. Work is primarily computer-based in an office or lab setting, with a focus on accuracy, documentation, and adherence to safety standards and regulations.
