The Mechanical Draftsman is responsible for preparing detailed engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and layout drawings based on design specifications and engineering inputs. The role requires proficiency in CAD software and coordination with design, production, procurement, and project teams to ensure accurate and timely documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other CAD software.
- Develop fabrication, assembly, GA (General Arrangement), and installation drawings.
- Prepare equipment layouts, piping layouts, structural support drawings, and BOM (Bill of Materials).
- Modify and revise drawings as per engineering changes and project requirements.
- Ensure drawings comply with applicable engineering standards, codes, and company procedures.
- Coordinate with Mechanical Design Engineers for design clarification and technical support.
- Maintain drawing revisions, document control, and engineering records.
- Prepare manufacturing drawings for fabrication and production activities.
- Coordinate with production and site teams to resolve drawing-related issues.
- Assist in preparing technical documentation and project drawing packages.
- Verify dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications before releasing drawings.
- Maintain proper filing and documentation of all engineering drawings.
Educational Qualification
- Diploma or ITI in Mechanical Engineering/Draftsman Mechanical.
- Additional certification in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software is preferred.
- 5-8 years of experience as a Mechanical Draftsman in manufacturing, EPC, WTP/STP, HVAC, fabrication, or industrial projects.
- Freshers with strong CAD skills may also be considered.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D & 3D).
- Knowledge of SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or similar CAD software.
- Understanding of fabrication drawings and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of engineering drawing standards and GD&T basics.
- Ability to prepare Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Familiarity with sheet metal, piping, tanks, pressure vessels, and structural drawings.
- Good knowledge of MS Office.
- Strong drafting and detailing skills.
