Senior Full Stack Developer
Phenom
About the Role
We are hiring a Software Developer – Full Stack to support the development of Astra, our internal enterprise platform focused on operational intelligence, governance, automation, and cross-functional visibility. Astra is currently being developed by a small team, and we need an additional hands-on engineer to improve execution speed, strengthen product development capacity, and help build a more scalable and maintainable platform.
This role will contribute end-to-end across frontend, backend, APIs, database, and integrations. You will work closely with the existing Astra team and business stakeholders to translate requirements into practical technical solutions and support the ongoing growth of Astra as a strategic internal platform.
Product Context – Astra
Astra is Phenom’s internal enterprise platform that brings together operational intelligence, governance, automation, and cross-functional visibility into a single product surface. It supports dashboards, workflows, and integrations that help internal teams operate efficiently. Astra is in an active build-and-scale phase, and this hire will materially increase delivery velocity.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and enhance product features across the Astra stack – frontend UI, backend services, APIs, and database layers.
- Support and improve dashboards, workflows, and user-facing screens used by internal teams.
- Design, implement, and maintain REST APIs and service-to-service integrations with enterprise systems and internal tools.
- Improve code quality, performance, and maintainability through refactoring, testing, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
- Fix defects, investigate production issues, and contribute to root-cause analysis and long-term fixes.
- Translate requirements from business stakeholders into clean, practical technical solutions.
- Collaborate with product, design, QA, and operations partners in an Agile delivery model.
- Participate in design discussions, sprint planning, estimations, and retrospectives; contribute to technical documentation.
- Help evolve Astra toward a more scalable, secure, and maintainable architecture as usage grows.
Must Have (Required Skills)
- Educational Qualification: B.Tech / B.E. / MCA in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 2 – 5 years of hands-on full stack software development experience in a product or enterprise environment.
- Frontend: Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and at least one modern framework – React (preferred), Angular, or Vue. Solid HTML5, CSS3, and responsive UI fundamentals.
- Backend: Hands-on experience building backend services and REST APIs using Node.js / Java / Python (preference for Node.js or Java stack).
- Database: Proficiency with relational databases (PostgreSQL / MySQL) including schema design, query optimization, and indexing; exposure to NoSQL (MongoDB / Redis) is a plus.
- API & Integration: Experience designing, consuming, and debugging REST APIs; familiarity with JSON, OAuth / OIDC / JWT-based auth, and webhook-style integrations.
- Engineering Practices: Git-based version control, code reviews, branching strategies, unit and integration testing, and CI/CD awareness.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical and debugging skills; comfort working across the full stack to trace an issue end to end.
- Communication: Clear written and verbal communication; able to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ownership: Self-driven, outcome-oriented, and comfortable working in a small team where each engineer owns meaningful scope.
- Experience with TypeScript, Next.js, or other modern React-based meta-frameworks.
- Experience building dashboards, data visualizations, or workflow tools (e.g., charting libraries, data grids, form builders).
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) at a working level.
- Exposure to cloud platforms – AWS, Azure, or GCP – and cloud-native services (compute, storage, queues, managed databases).
- Experience with message queues / event streams (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS).
- Familiarity with observability tooling – logs, metrics, traces (e.g., ELK, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Exposure to internal tooling, ITSM, or enterprise platforms (Jira, ServiceNow, Okta, SSO flows).
- Prior experience integrating with third-party SaaS systems via REST / webhooks.
- Agile / Scrum delivery experience; comfortable with sprint-based work and incremental delivery.
- Product mindset – cares about the user experience, not just the code.
- High sense of ownership and follow-through on commitments.
- Collaborative and respectful in code reviews and design discussions.
- Pragmatic – balances quality, delivery speed, and scope.
- Curious and continuously learning; open to feedback and coaching.
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and shaping requirements alongside stakeholders.
What You’ll Own in Year One
- Deliver meaningful features and enhancements across Astra’s frontend and backend.
- Ship improvements to dashboards, workflows, and integrations used by internal teams.
- Measurably reduce the defect backlog and improve performance hotspots.
- Contribute to architecture and tech-debt reduction initiatives to make Astra more scalable and maintainable.
- Partner with business stakeholders to translate real operational problems into shipped capability.
- 2 – 5 years of relevant full stack software development experience.
- B.Tech / B.E. / MCA in Computer Science or a closely related discipline.
- Willing to work from office as per current company policy.
- Available to start within a reasonable notice period.
You will work on a strategic internal platform – Astra – that directly influences how the company operates, governs, and automates work across teams. You will own real scope from day one, ship features that internal users feel immediately, and grow alongside a tight, focused engineering team.
