Job Purpose

Responsible for improving manufacturing productivity, optimizing processes, planning layouts, implementing automation projects, and supporting CAPEX and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Context

The Industrial Engineer is responsible for driving operational excellence by improving manufacturing processes, increasing productivity, and optimizing resource utilization in a Switchgear Panel Manufacturing environment. The role involves conducting work measurement studies (Cycle Time, Route Time, and MOST), planning and executing plant layouts, leading automation and CAPEX projects, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

The position works closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, EHS, Finance, and external vendors to ensure efficient manufacturing operations, cost reduction, quality improvement, and on-time project execution. The Industrial Engineer also provides technical support for process development, equipment selection, layout modifications, civil coordination, and manufacturing optimization while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and company standards.

Key Accountabilities

  • Plan and implement Templates/Fixtures/Special tools/Material handling equipment for the assembly line.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects to improve productivity, quality and safety.
  • Design stud welding templates and fixtures in 3D cad software.
  • Regularly review assembly layout and plant layout and implement the changes.
  • Take care of new product introduction activities and provide all the facilities required to produce new product.
  • Plan, raise and provide financial justification for the Capex which is required to implement continuous improvement projects.
  • Improving the existing processes to improve the quality of product.
  • Implement the new manufacturing processes to improve productivity, quality and safety.
  • Conduct time study and motion study of existing and new processes.
  • Should have knowledge on Lean Manufacturing and should have implemented single piece flow for an assembly line.
  • Communicating with other sites to implement the best practices and standardise the processes.
  • Communicate with suppliers for quotes, raise Purchase requisition, submission of invoice and ensuring payment is done to close the cycle.
  • Prepare CAPEX budgets and proposals and coordinate implementation.
  • Coordinate civil works related to layout changes and machine installation.
  • Prepare SOPs, process flows and engineering documentation

Qualifications, Experience, & Skills

  • Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge: B. Tech/B. E. in Mechanical/Production/Industrial Engineering
  • Minimum Experience: - 3 –4 years in Industrial Engineering, preferably in Switchgear Panel Manufacturing
