Who We Are
We are Foxsense Innovations - a bunch of passionate developers that love solving complex business problems through products and tools we build from scratch. Weʼve been at it for over 7 years now, and weʼve serviced over 50 happy customers around the world, while also building several in-house micro-SaaS tools for the market (all of this while being bootstrapped and profitable). Our team is rapidly growing, and weʼre in an exciting phase of our 1-10 journey. This is an opportunity for anyone who wants to experience this journey with us.
About The Role
As a Senior DevOps Engineer at Foxsense Innovations, you will drive the design and evolution of our AWS-based infrastructure that supports our software development and deployment processes. You'll partner closely with cross-functional teams and engineering leadership to set technical direction for scalability, security, and reliability — while mentoring engineers and raising the bar for operational excellence across the org.
Responsibilities
Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
- Architect and own AWS infrastructure using Terraform or CloudFormation, establishing reusable modules and standards adopted across teams.
- Drive decisions on scalability, security, and performance across core AWS services (EC2, ECS/Fargate, RDS, S3, VPC, API Gateway, Lambda), anticipating growth and failure modes.
- Design and own CI/CD pipeline architecture end-to-end (e.g., CodePipeline/CodeBuild, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins deploying to AWS), setting standards for automated software delivery across multiple teams/projects.
- Identify and resolve systemic bottlenecks in build and deployment workflows; lead optimization initiatives with development teams.
- Own configuration management strategy for application servers, databases, and infrastructure using tools like Ansible or Puppet, in AWS environments.
- Define and enforce consistency and reliability standards across environments, including for newly onboarded projects.
- Design monitoring and observability strategy using AWS-native tools (CloudWatch, X-Ray) and/or third-party platforms (DataDog, Grafana).
- Own logging infrastructure architecture, ensuring efficient troubleshooting, analysis, and alerting at scale.
- Act as a technical bridge between development and IT operations, influencing architectural decisions early in the SDLC.
- Mentor junior and mid-level DevOps engineers; review their IaC/pipeline work and raise technical standards.
- Provide senior-level technical support and act as an escalation point for production system issues.
- Implement AWS security best practices — IAM least-privilege design, Secrets Manager, security groups/NACLs, WAF, and encryption at rest/in transit.
- Lead security audits and vulnerability assessments on AWS workloads, and own remediation roadmaps.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role, with deep, hands-on production experience specifically in AWS (this is a must-have, not a nice-to-have).
- At least 1-2 years in a technical leadership or mentorship capacity.
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation, with a track record of building internal tooling.
- Deep proficiency with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes (EKS experience preferred), including production troubleshooting experience.
- Strong command of version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows, including branching strategy design.
- Demonstrated experience designing AWS infrastructure or pipeline architecture from scratch, not just maintaining existing systems.
- AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer Professional) strongly preferred.
- Strong technical portfolio with examples of AWS architecture decisions and their tradeoffs.
- Advanced AWS security practices — zero-trust design, cross-account access patterns, Secrets Manager/KMS at scale.
- Familiarity with Azure or Google Cloud as a secondary platform.
- Experience mentoring engineers or leading a small DevOps/platform team.
