Thomson Reuters is looking for a Senior Director, Market Lead, India to join our Regional Asia & Emerging Markets Leadership Team. This is a hands-on and strategic role, responsible for building a high-performance sales organisation while setting the foundations for long-term success aligned to our India market strategy.

You will provide strategic and operational leadership across the full sales team; BDMs, Pre-Sales, and SDRs; driving a high-performance culture through clear expectations, ambitious goals, accountability, and ongoing coaching and development. You'll shape team dynamics, motivate individuals, and ensure alignment with strategic goals.

This is a high-impact, end-to-end commercial leadership role covering the full customer lifecycle; from lead generation and sales closure through to retention and growth across our complete company portfolio. You will shape and execute strategies that accelerate market share, drive short- and long-term revenue growth, and strengthen our brand's presence in India.

You're a results-driven leader who thrives in a matrixed, fast-paced, regional and global environment; someone with strong ability to influence and collaborate across cross-functional teams, build C-level relationships, and inspire high-performing teams to deliver.

Key Deliverables

  • Achieve or exceed market revenue, net new sales, cross-sell, upsell and retention targets.
  • Deliver strong Net Promoter Scores and customer experience metrics.
  • Grow Book of Business through new business development and retention strategies.
  • Maximize client value through renewals and upselling initiatives.
  • Ensure team adherence to KPIs: activity metrics, forecast accuracy, pipeline coverage, and account planning.
  • Provide actionable market feedback to inform company strategy and product development.
  • Lead performance management for a strong-performing regional team; using data-driven insights to assess contributions, identify growth opportunities, and implement targeted development plans that keep the team engaged, empowered, and delivering results

About The Role

As a Senior Director, Market Lead, India, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Tactical and Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute go-to-market strategies to drive sales, market share, and retention goals. Champion the company's vision and thought leadership within the market.
  • Team Management & Coaching: Lead, coach, and inspire high-performing Sales & Pre Sales teams. Foster a customer-focused, results-driven culture through targeted development and performance management.
  • End-to-End Sales & Retention Ownership: Oversee all market commercial activity from lead generation through to sales closure, onboarding, and ongoing client retention and upsell.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and nurture strong C-level and executive relationships with key clients, acting as a trusted advisor and brand ambassador.
  • Market Intelligence: Stay ahead of industry trends, competitor activity, and client needs to inform commercial strategy and market relevance.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with Product, Marketing, Professional Services, Partnerships & Alliances, and other internal teams in a matrixed environment to deliver seamless client experiences.
  • Performance Management: Monitor and report on sales metrics, pipeline health, and team/individual performance. Prepare regular business reports and recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Brand Advocacy: Represent the company at industry events, speaking engagements, and client forums.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements & best practices to drive efficiency across the sales cycle.

About You

As a Senior Director, Market Lead, India, you should possess the following:

  • Go-To-Market/Sales Leadership experience: 15+ years experience in a high performing technology / SaaS environment with at least 5 years experience in leading and managing teams.
  • Strategic Acumen: Proven ability to design, execute, and adjust commercial strategies to achieve ambitious sales and retention objectives.
  • Executive Communication: Exceptional communication, negotiation, and influencing skills at C-level and senior executive level, both internally and externally
  • Collaboration: Demonstrated success operating in a matrixed, cross-functional environment, building strong partnerships across peers and stakeholders.
  • Client Centricity: Strong customer orientation with the ability to understand, articulate, and solve complex client needs specific to the India market.
  • Analytical & Problem Solving: Advanced analytical skills to identify risks and opportunities, and drive data-informed decision-making.
  • Market Understanding & Intelligence: Deep understanding of the India market, including established client relationships and knowledge of local market considerations
  • Presentation Skills: Strong public speaking and presentation skills, with experience representing organizations at industry events.
  • Change Management: Track record of leading change management, mitigating risk, and driving adoption across teams
  • M&A experience would be highly desirable
