About the role
As Purchase Executive, you will ensure Origin’s engineering and manufacturing teams receive the right components, materials, services, and tooling at the right quality, cost, and time. You will manage purchasing execution from approved requirement through supplier follow-up and receipt, while building accurate commercial records and strong vendor relationships. This role is central to keeping prototype builds, pilot deployments, and production schedules moving without surprises.
Key responsibilities
- Convert approved purchase requirements and bills of material into RFQs, commercial comparisons, purchase orders, and delivery plans.
- Source mechanical, electrical, electronic, fabricated, machined, and standard industrial components from qualified suppliers.
- Negotiate price, lead time, payment terms, minimum order quantities, warranties, and delivery commitments.
- Follow up actively with suppliers, logistics partners, engineering, quality, and finance until material is received and accepted.
- Maintain accurate PO, quotation, vendor, delivery, invoice, and payment records in the operating system or ERP.
- Identify shortages and schedule risks early, propose alternates, and escalate decisions with evidence.
- Support vendor onboarding, supplier performance reviews, cost reduction, and localisation initiatives.
- Ensure purchasing follows approved specifications, quality requirements, and internal controls.
Requirements
Required qualifications and skills
- 2+ years of purchasing, procurement, sourcing, or supply-chain execution experience in a hardware, manufacturing, automotive, industrial, or engineering environment.
- Strong ability to read bills of material, specifications, drawings, and commercial quotations.
- Practical experience with RFQs, purchase orders, negotiations, expediting, invoice reconciliation, and supplier follow-up.
- Proficiency with spreadsheets and an ERP or procurement system.
- Clear written and verbal communication in English; strong organisation and attention to detail.
- Ability to operate with urgency in a fast-moving engineering environment.
Preferred experience
- Procurement of machined parts, sheet metal, wiring, electronics, motors, batteries, sensors, or industrial equipment.
- Vendor-development, cost-reduction, or NPI purchasing experience.
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in engineering, commerce, supply chain, or a related field.
