We are seeking an experienced City Manager to take end-to-end ownership of business operations and growth in Chennai. This role will be responsible for managing the city's P&L, operational performance, fleet utilization, driver network, team leadership, and business development initiatives.

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in mobility, logistics, or on-demand services, along with a proven ability to lead large operational teams, manage budgets, improve profitability, and scale city-level businesses.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the complete P&L for Chennai, including revenue targets, cost management, budgeting, and operating margin improvement.
  • Drive aggressive driver onboarding and build a strong pipeline of active driver partners.
  • Optimize fleet utilization across active vehicles through effective allocation, demand planning, and operational monitoring.
  • Oversee city operations across driver operations, customer experience, fleet management, and finance.
  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, including corporate partnerships, new customer segments, and geographic expansion.
  • Develop and execute strategies to improve city-level revenue, efficiency, service quality, and profitability.
  • Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing city team with clear goals, accountability, and a strong performance culture.
  • Monitor key operational and financial metrics and take corrective actions to address gaps.
  • Identify operational risks, bottlenecks, and growth opportunities and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Provide regular updates to national leadership on business performance, risks, operational priorities, and growth plans.
  • Ensure effective coordination across functions to deliver consistent customer and business outcomes.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • 6–10 years of professional experience, with at least 2–3 years in P&L ownership, city management, regional management, or a similar leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of mobility, logistics, transportation, or on-demand service businesses.
  • Proven experience managing business operations and delivering revenue and profitability targets.
  • Strong people leadership skills, with the ability to hire, develop, motivate, and retain diverse operational teams.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience developing business cases, managing budgets, and optimizing costs.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.

Good-to-Have Skills

  • Prior experience working in Chennai or managing operations across South India.
  • Exposure to fleet management, multi-modal transportation, or hyperlocal logistics.
  • Experience scaling city-level operations or launching new business segments.
  • Strong understanding of local market dynamics and customer behavior.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on, commercially driven operations leader who can balance P&L ownership with execution on the ground. You should be comfortable managing multiple functions, leading large teams, improving operational efficiency, and identifying new avenues for city-level growth.
