We are seeking an experienced Senior VMware Engineer to serve as a technical expert in enterprise virtualization and infrastructure engineering. The role will focus on designing, implementing, supporting, and optimizing VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), vSphere, vSAN, and NSX-T environments.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing enterprise-scale VMware infrastructure, strong troubleshooting capabilities, and the ability to collaborate with architecture, networking, security, and infrastructure teams. This role also offers the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and contribute to the evolution of the organization's virtualization strategy.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert for infrastructure projects involving VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), vSphere, vSAN, NSX-T, and SDDC platforms.
  • Deploy, configure, upgrade, maintain, and troubleshoot VCF environments, workload domains, vCenter, ESXi hosts, vSAN clusters, and NSX-T networking.
  • Manage VCF lifecycle operations and ensure platform components remain stable, secure, and up to date.
  • Implement enterprise virtualization standards, security hardening, disaster recovery strategies, and capacity planning processes.
  • Manage integrations between VMware platforms and adjacent technologies, including HCI, hardware infrastructure, automation tools, and cloud services.
  • Monitor platform performance and identify opportunities to improve scalability, efficiency, availability, and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and drive problems through to resolution.
  • Partner with architecture, networking, security, and other infrastructure teams to ensure solutions meet technical, business, and compliance requirements.
  • Develop and maintain operational documentation, standards, and best practices.
  • Train and mentor junior engineers on VMware architecture, VCF technologies, troubleshooting, and operational processes.
  • Participate in technology evaluations and remain current with VMware product roadmaps, licensing changes, and virtualization industry trends.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 8+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise-scale VMware vSphere environments.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), including lifecycle management and workload domain operations.
  • Strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere and enterprise virtualization technologies.
  • 5+ years of experience with VMware NSX-T (NSXT), including distributed networking, security policies, and microsegmentation.
  • Strong experience deploying and managing vSAN, including storage policies, cluster management, and HCI capacity planning.
  • Experience administering and supporting Windows and/or Linux environments.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise directory and authentication services, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, MFA, and Group Policy.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex infrastructure challenges independently.

Good-to-Have Skills

  • VMware certifications such as VCP-DCV, VCAP-DCV, VCP-NV, or VCF Specialist.
  • Automation experience using PowerShell, PowerCLI, Bash, and/or Python.
  • Experience with Citrix technologies, including Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, XenApp, or XenDesktop.
  • Exposure to hybrid-cloud VMware environments such as VMware Cloud on AWS, Azure VMware Solution, or Google Cloud VMware Engine.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes platforms such as Tanzu, AKS, or EKS within VMware/VCF environments.
  • Experience with enterprise hardware platforms such as Dell VxRail, HPE Synergy, or Cisco UCS.
  • Familiarity with Proxmox VE or other open-source virtualization platforms.
  • Understanding of enterprise disaster recovery, automation, monitoring, and infrastructure optimization.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a technically strong and hands-on virtualization professional with deep expertise in VMware VCF and vSphere. You should be comfortable working in complex enterprise environments, leading technical initiatives, resolving critical infrastructure issues, and mentoring other engineers while continuously improving platform reliability and performance.
