The Migration Lead is the single point of accountability for the end-to-end delivery of the client Atlassian Cloud Migration Program. This role owns the migration strategy, wave execution, cutover decisions, and quality outcomes across Jira and Confluence workstreams. Operating under a constrained environment, the Migration Lead must bring deep hands-on experience in Atlassian Cloud-to-Cloud migrations and the judgement to make high-stakes decisions with minimal margin for error.

Key responsibilities

  • Own and drive the migration strategy, wave plan, and cutover approach from discovery through go-live and hypercare
  • Lead technical decision-making across Jira and Confluence migration workstreams
  • Define and enforce the delta sync mechanism design, ensuring repeatability for bi-monthly and on-demand migrations
  • Act as the primary technical escalation point for migration blockers, data integrity issues, and cutover risks
  • Coordinate with the Solution Architect on target configuration design and with Migration Engineers on execution
  • Chair technical working sessions with client Cloud Admin, Security/Identity, and Incumbent administrators
  • Drive go/no-go decisions for each wave based on reconciliation evidence and UAT outcomes
  • Ensure all migration evidence packs, runbooks, and knowledge transfer materials meet audit and handover standards

Experience Requirements

  • Total experience: 10+ years in IT delivery, infrastructure, or platform engineering
  • Atlassian-specific experience: 5+ years leading Atlassian Cloud migrations (Cloud-to-Cloud strongly preferred)
  • Migration Program leadership: Minimum 3 completed Atlassian migration Programs (end-to-end) in a lead capacity
  • BFSI / regulated industry: At least 2 engagements in banking, financial services, or insurance environments with security, compliance, and audit requirements
