Your Team's Impact
This role sits within FactSet’s PL1: Data Products, Storage and Access, a core component of the Data Platform that powers critical content storage and access used across FactSet contents.
The Gravity Team is responsible for making attic a collection product more scalable and reliable allowing stream-aligned teams to collect and publish data at FactSet without having to manage their own databases.
As part of focusing on making the product more reliable and scalable, the team is expanding its capabilities to support evolving business needs and the increasing complexity of managing data.
We are looking for a Engineering Team Leader to join and lead the Gravity team in Hyderabad.
You will lead and contribute to building, evolving data-intensive backend systems, with a strong focus on data processing, system design, and performance.
This role has backend development, with significant exposure to python, AWS components, system design, and system reliability challenges.
You will also contribute to the team’s ongoing challenges to improve performance and throughput for large data users, helping modernise the technical stack.
Technical Environment: Python, Pandas, Parquet files, AWS, REST APIs, Git, CI/CD pipelines
The team: 3 software engineers (Hyderabad-based)
What You'll Do
- Scale infrastructure thoughtfully — guide the team in building robust AWS architectures; own infrastructure decisions that support product scalability and reliability; mentor engineers on infrastructure best practices
- Foster technical excellence — establish code review culture, mentor on best practices, and unblock engineers when they need technical guidance or resources
- Drive cross-functional collaboration — coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth product delivery; communicate proactively on timelines, dependencies, and technical constraints
- Own product stability — set reliability expectations, establish monitoring/alerting practices, and lead post-incident reviews to prevent recurrence
- Champion modernization — identify opportunities to adopt industry-standard tools and practices; advocate for technical debt work alongside feature delivery; build business case for infrastructure improvements
- Build a learning culture — encourage knowledge sharing internally and externally; support team participation in conferences, open-source work, and cross-team initiatives
- Deliver team results — balance individual team contribution with management responsibilities; hire, develop, and retain strong engineers; hit delivery commitments and roadmap milestones
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science .
- 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong experience and proficiency with Python.
- Experience with AWS components.
- Knowledge of Pandas and Parquet.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with GitHub-based development processes .
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized, self-directed, and resourceful with the ability to appropriately prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
- AWS Services like (ECS, DynamoDB, S3, Batch, SQS)
- Table formats like Iceberg, Delta Lake
- Databricks
