System Administrator

Soliton Technologies

Summary:

This role is the primary point of contact for IT support within the organization, helping employees resolve laptop issues, account access problems, software installations, and everyday technical queries. It is an ideal opportunity to build a strong IT foundation while being guided and mentored by an experienced senior team.

Position Overview:

The “System Administrator” is responsible for maintaining smooth day-to-day IT operations across the organization. This role covers end-user support, asset management, system upkeep, and vendor coordination, making it a well-rounded position for someone looking to grow within an IT support function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day support to employees on tickets, laptops, logins, printers, software installations, and related requests.
  • Complete daily preventive checks across the office — verifying that IT hardware, servers, UPS, and internet links are up, both physically and logically — and act on any deviation.
  • Build and deliver new laptops end to end: imaging, domain join, host ID and AD account creation, project-specific software, endpoint agent installation, asset tagging, and user handover.
  • Maintain the asset register and host ID records accurately, and provision test PCs and virtual machines against validated user requirements, tracking usage duration and reclaiming resources on expiry.
  • Manage the user account lifecycle — email IDs, AD accounts, distribution lists and group memberships, password resets, and access provisioning and revocation during onboarding and exit.
  • Test and deploy Windows and third-party patches through the endpoint management console, monitor patch non-compliance reports, and resolve the root cause of failures.
  • Maintain endpoint security compliance: monitor antivirus and endpoint protection consoles, bring non-compliant systems back into compliance, respond to threat and data-loss-prevention alerts, and validate license terms for software approval requests.
  • Run scheduled backups of servers, Active Directory, and databases to the NAS, and perform periodic restore checks with project teams to confirm data integrity.
  • Coordinate with vendors for hardware, software, and facility requirements — obtaining and comparing quotes, securing approvals, releasing purchase orders, and following up until delivery and installation.
  • Support network and infrastructure monitoring, including Wi-Fi and LAN authentication, firewall and CCTV checks, and report anomalies to the senior team.
  • Keep trackers, checklists, and basic documentation current to support ISO audits, knowledge sharing, and team organisation.
  • Escalate recurring or complex issues to the Team Lead or Senior System Administrator for permanent resolution.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma, BCA, B.Sc., or B.E. (Postgraduate candidates will not be considered.)
  • Proficient with Windows, Outlook, and standard office productivity software.
  • Basic understanding of networks, Wi-Fi, and general office IT infrastructure.
  • Some familiarity with Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace.
  • 1–5 years of hands-on IT support or system administration experience.
  • A helpful and patient approach to working directly with end-users.
  • Willingness to learn new tools and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.
