Responsibilities
- Sales Strategy & Revenue Growth
- Develop and execute a comprehensive sales and distribution strategy aligned with the company’s growth targets.
- Set and own aggressive but realistic sales targets across regions, channels, and product categories. The goal is to maximise sales output.
- Identify and capitalise on growth areas – both in terms of product (new fabric categories, blends, finishes) and geographies (underserved or high-potential markets).
- Drive pricing strategy in coordination with management. Understand margin structures, competitive pricing, and trade schemes that move volumes without eroding value.
- Improve order forecasting accuracy over time. This is critical - better forecasting means better production planning, lower inventory holding, and fewer missed deliveries. The management expects this to become a real strength of this role with time.
- Market Intelligence & Trend Reading
- Read the market continuously - geographically, by product, by buyer segment. Understand what’s trending, what’s fading, what the competition is pushing, and where company can differentiate, etc.
- Get structured feedback from the market on product quality, pricing, design preferences, and service levels. Bring this back and discuss with management and the product/design teams so the company’s offering stays relevant.
- Must understand buyers and their purchase patterns. The market is changing with traditional wholesale models being disrupted by D2C brands, e-commerce aggregators, and digitally savvy retailers. This role must stay on top of how buying behaviour is evolving.
- Track competitor moves - new launches, pricing changes, distribution expansion and recommend proactive responses.
- Distribution & Channel Management
- Align and restructure distribution networks to improve reach and market penetration across India.
- Strengthen relationships with existing distributors and dealers. Build new, high-potential channel partnerships where gaps exist.
- Implement effective trade schemes, incentives, and pricing structures that drive volume while protecting the company’s margin position.
- Lead market expansion initiatives across key regions. Identify spaces and build a phased entry plan.
- Team Building, Leadership & Culture
- Build, lead, and develop a marketing and sales team that operates with ownership, discipline, and pride in the company.
- The thinking here is not just to fill positions but to build a team where there’s real team binding and attachment to the work and to the company. People should want to stay and grow here.
- Handhold and train team members on products, fabric knowledge, selling techniques, and customer engagement. Be present and invested in their development.
- Set clear expectations. Review performance regularly. Reward strong performers and address underperformance with fairness and firmness.
- Must be a team player and team-driven.
- Market Presence & Brand Reputation
- Actively represent a company in the market. Build and maintain relationships with trade partners, key accounts, and industry bodies on a foundation of integrity and trust.
- Uphold and enhance company’ reputation in the market. Every interaction with a customer or channel partner should reinforce the brand’s standing for quality, reliability, and fair dealing.
- Attend trade shows, exhibitions, and industry events. Use these platforms to strengthen the brand and build the pipeline.
- Engage with key accounts personally. For large or strategic accounts, this person should be the face of the company.
- Order Management & Delivery Coordination
- Monitor the entire order pipeline - new orders, pending orders, production scheduling, dispatch status and ensure timely delivery against commitments.
- Coordinate with Production and Planning teams to align sales commitments with manufacturing capacity. Don’t oversell and underdeliver.
- Own the customer experience end to end. If there’s a quality complaint, a delivery delay, or a pricing dispute - this person drives the ownership.
- Oversee stock levels, payment follow-ups, and fabric sourcing coordination (including imports and outsourcing where applicable).
- Communication, Reporting & Escalation
- Provide structured, regular updates to the management – weekly sales reviews, monthly performance reports, quarterly business reviews.
- Ensure clear communication across Sales, Marketing, Production, and Finance departments. The management should not have to chase for updates.
- Escalate issues and decisions that genuinely need management attention but come with data, context, and a recommendation, not just problems.
- The idea is that this role should absorb the daily market-side noise so the management can focus on strategy and growth.
- Long-Term Vision & Growth Planning
- This is not a short-term assignment. The company is looking for someone with a long-term
