Role Overview
We are looking for a senior professional who understands SCADA, BMS, EPMS and industrial data systems, and who can help the organisation bring data from different sites and equipment into a common enterprise data platform.In simple terms: you will take data coming from machines, BMS/SCADA systems and sensors, organise and clean it, connect it securely to the company's data platform, and make sure it can be used reliably for business and operational decisions.The role is to architect and standardise how SCADA/BMS/EPMS data from multiple sites is collected, mapped to physical assets, cleaned, secured and transferred into the enterprise data platform so that Operations and business teams can use reliable KPIs and analytics.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand the existing SCADA/BMS systems Study the systems in use across different sites and document: What SCADA/BMS/EPMS systems are installed What controllers and equipment are connected What historian systems are being used How data is collected What communication protocols are being used
- Connect data to the right equipment SCADA systems generate thousands of data points called tags. Create and maintain the mapping between tags and the physical machine/equipment they belong to, so the organisation always knows which data belongs to which asset.
- Organise and clean the data Data arrives from many different sites and systems. Define how the data should be collected, stored, cleaned, standardised, aggregated, downsampled, and validated, following the organisation's Bronze → Silver → Gold data model: Bronze: Raw data Silver: Clean and validated data Gold: Business-ready information / KPIs
- Ensure the data is accurate Identify and resolve data quality issues, including: Sensors giving incorrect readings Missing data Sensors stuck at the same value Incorrect timestamps Different measurement units Duplicate or abnormal readings Also help create a confidence score for important operational KPIs, so the data can be trusted.
- Work with Cybersecurity SCADA and BMS systems are part of the OT (Operational Technology) environment. Ensure data is extracted without affecting the operation or security of the equipment, working with cybersecurity teams on: Network segmentation OT/IT separation One-way data transfer where required Secure data extraction OT cybersecurity controls
- Define operational KPIs Work with Operations and Engineering teams to decide what should be measured and how, converting machine data into meaningful operational metrics such as: Power consumption Cooling performance Equipment availability Capacity Energy efficiency System reliability
- Support data pipelines Work with the data engineering team to ensure OT data flows correctly from SCADA/BMS → Data Platform → Analytics/Dashboards. Support: Data pipeline development Monitoring Error detection Automated testing Data quality checks
Must Have
16+ years of overall experience
At least 5+ years working with SCADA, BMS, EPMS or industrial historian systems
Experience working with industrial/OT data
Experience integrating OT data with IT/data platforms
Good understanding of asset hierarchy and tag mapping
Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, OPC UA / OPC DA, MQTT
Experience with historian platforms such as OSIsoft PI / AVEVA PI, Ignition, or equivalent
Understanding of OT cybersecurity and IT/OT network segregation
Experience working with Operations, Engineering and Cybersecurity teams
Good to Have :
Experience with large-scale industrial/data-centre environments
Experience with cloud/data platforms
Experience with data lakes and time-series data
Experience with data quality frameworks
Experience building operational dashboards/KPIs
