Business Intelligence Developer

We are seeking an experienced Google Looker Developer to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade reporting, analytics, and business intelligence solutions using Google Looker, LookML, SQL, and cloud-based data platforms.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Looker and LookML, along with advanced SQL and data modelling skills. The candidate will be responsible for translating business requirements into scalable semantic data models, interactive dashboards, reports, and actionable insights for business stakeholders while ensuring data accuracy, governance, security, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance LookML models, Views, Explores, Dimensions, Measures, and dashboards.
• Design and develop interactive, user-friendly dashboards and reports aligned with business requirements.
• Gather, understand, and analyze business requirements and translate them into effective analytics and reporting solutions.
• Develop and optimize complex SQL queries for reporting, analytics, and data validation.
• Design and implement semantic data models, dimensional models, and KPI frameworks.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, governance, and security across reporting solutions.
• Implement and manage role-based access controls (RBAC) and data access policies.
• Support Row-Level Security (RLS) and other data governance requirements.
• Perform dashboard and query performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering and Data Platform teams to integrate and consume data from BigQuery, Snowflake, and other cloud data sources.
• Support production deployments, enhancements, incident resolution, and ongoing platform maintenance.
• Conduct data validation and ensure reporting outputs meet business and technical requirements.
• Prepare technical documentation, data model documentation, and user guides.
• Provide user support, knowledge transfer, and training to business users as required.
• Follow best practices for LookML development, dashboard design, version control, testing, and deployment.

Required Technical Skills

Looker & LookML

• Strong hands-on experience with Google Looker and LookML.
• Expertise in developing:

• Strong understanding of Looker semantic modelling and governed analytics.
• Experience with Looker dashboard development and visualization best practices.
• Experience in Looker performance optimization and troubleshooting.

SQL & Data Modelling

• Advanced proficiency in SQL.
• Strong understanding of:
• Data Modelling
• Dimensional Modelling
• Star and Snowflake Schemas
• Data Warehousing Concepts
• ETL/ELT Processes
• Data Quality and Validation
• Ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries for large datasets.

Cloud Data Platforms

Experience working with one or more cloud data warehouses, preferably:

• Google BigQuery
• Snowflake
• Amazon Redshift

Strong understanding of how BI/analytics platforms integrate with cloud-based data warehouses.

Data Governance & Security

• Understanding of data governance, data security, and access management.
• Experience with Row-Level Security (RLS) and role-based access controls.
• Understanding of data quality, metadata, and governed analytics.

Development & Delivery

• Familiarity with Git/version control and collaborative development practices.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Understanding of CI/CD and deployment processes for analytics solutions is an advantage.

Preferred Skills

• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience with Python for data analysis, automation, or data processing.
• Experience migrating dashboards and reporting solutions from Tableau or Power BI to Looker.
• Experience with enterprise-scale Looker implementations.
• Experience optimizing Looker dashboards and underlying SQL/data warehouse queries.
• Exposure to data pipeline and ETL/ELT development.
• Google Cloud or Looker certification is an added advantage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Relevant professional experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Data Visualization, or Looker development.
