COMPANY OVERVIEW

Lumber is an all-in-one construction workforce management platform that seamlessly streamlines payroll, time tracking, safety, compliance, field productivity, rewards, and recognition for building contractors.

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Demo Experience Specialist with strong US payroll, product configuration, and cross-functional communication experience to build and maintain the demo environments behind every customer-facing sales call. This role sits at the intersection of Sales, Product, and Engineering — turning a prospect's US-payroll use case into a working, customized product instance, with enough payroll fluency to speak credibly to prospects and enough cross-functional range to keep all three teams aligned on what each deal needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build custom demo instances per prospect — data, cost codes, reporting views, industry-specific scenarios ahead of scheduled calls.
  • Partner with Account Executives and Solution Consultants pre-call to confirm requirements so every demo is fully ready.
  • Shadow live demos and discovery calls to build product and solution-selling depth.
  • Coordinate product questions raised mid-deal between Sales and Product through to resolution.
  • Keep demo environments current with new releases; contribute to weekly demo-activity reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Any bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in US payroll processing, payroll support, or a related client-facing SaaS role — required.
  • Hands-on experience with US payroll/workforce platforms such as ADP, Plexxis, or similar systems — required.
  • Highly collaborative, comfortable working closely across Product, Sales, and Engineering to keep every deal aligned — required.
  • Understanding of US payroll fundamentals (W-2/W-4, FLSA overtime, multi-state tax withholding); familiarity with certified payroll and prevailing wage is a strong plus given our construction customer base.
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or similar certification is a plus.
  • Comfort configuring SaaS admin settings — user roles, company setup, data uploads.
  • Experience with additional payroll/workforce platforms (Paychex, QuickBooks Payroll, Viewpoint, Sage) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with a CRM or sales-enablement tool (HubSpot, Salesforce) is a plus.
  • Naturally curious, with an inclination to explore and pick up new product features and modules on the fly.
  • Highly organized, able to plan and execute tasks independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong written/verbal communication skills.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Faster demo turnaround for AEs and SCs, with fewer last-minute scrambles before client calls.
  • High AE/SC satisfaction with demo quality, accuracy, and readiness.
  • Improved demo-to-next-stage conversion on supported deals.
  • Clean, timely resolution of product questions routed from Sales to Product.
  • An accurate, current library of demo environments and reusable assets.

WHY JOIN US?

  • Be part of a fast-growing platform reshaping payroll and workforce management for U.S. construction companies.
  • Work closely with Sales, Product, and Customer Success in a highly cross-functional, high-visibility role.
  • Competitive salary, flexible work environment, and comprehensive benefits
