We are hiring a Senior Backend Engineer (Node.js) in Bengaluru for a team building on Node.js, Express, Security. 4-6 years of experience.

What You Will Work On

Node.js, Express, Security, with JavaScript, Performance, Async across the wider stack.

What You Need

4-6 years with Node.js in production.
Hands-on depth in Express, Security, enough to defend a decision you made in each, and name the one you rejected.
Working familiarity with JavaScript, Performance, Async.
You have designed something that outlived its first version, and you can say what you would do differently now.
The ability to explain a technical decision to somebody who did not make it. Every round here includes it.

Not the focus of the interview, but part of the job. Teams ask about these, so be ready to talk about them:

Git, branching and code review as a daily habit
One cloud provider used in anger: AWS, Azure or GCP
CI/CD: your work reaches an environment without somebody carrying it
Docker, and a container platform in production: Kubernetes, ECS or equivalent
SQL beyond CRUD: indexes, query plans, and why a join got slow
A queue or stream (Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ), and what you do when it backs up
Logs, metrics and traces you actually read when something is on fire

How The Interview Goes

Expect to be asked how you would approach a problem in each of the areas above, and why you would not take the obvious route. Then one level down on whichever answer was weakest.
