Shree Guru Jambeshwar Sewa Sansthan (SGJSS) is a registered non-profit society working since 2007 with smallholder and marginal farming communities across Rajasthan, India. Our work spans sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation, rural livelihoods, women's self-help groups, maternal health and digital literacy.

Our website, sgjss.org, is the front door for donors, institutional funders and the communities we serve. It is a self-hosted WordPress site that has grown organically and now needs an experienced pair of eyes. We are looking for one skilled volunteer to audit it end to end and then help us fix what the audit finds.

What You Will Do

  • Run a full technical and content audit of sgjss.org page speed and Core Web Vitals, mobile responsiveness, broken links and 404 errors, on-page SEO, metadata, and overall site structure.
  • Review our Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager setup and repair conversion tracking that is not firing correctly, including contact form submissions, click-to-WhatsApp, and completed donations.
  • Carry out a basic web accessibility check against WCAG guidance and flag the highest-impact gaps.
  • Review our Google Ad Grant setup and advise on why delivery is under-performing.
  • Deliver a short, prioritised report quick wins first, larger structural work second.
  • Implement the agreed fixes in WordPress alongside our team, and leave brief documentation so we can maintain the improvements ourselves.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Hands-on WordPress experience with themes, plugins and page builders, and comfort working on a self-hosted site.
  • Working knowledge of technical SEO and site performance tools such as PageSpeed Insights, Google Search Console, and a crawler like Screaming Frog.
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager, including debugging tags, triggers and the data layer.
  • Methodical, self-directed, and able to explain technical findings in plain language to a small non-technical team.
  • Web accessibility experience and any exposure to Google Ad Grants are a bonus, not a requirement.

PRACTICAL DETAILS

  • Fully remote. Volunteers based in India are preferred for time-zone overlap, but we welcome applicants anywhere who can work comfortably with Indian Standard Time.
  • Approximately 4 to 6 weeks, around 4 to 6 hours per week, with flexible scheduling.
  • This is an unpaid volunteer role. On completion we provide a written volunteer certificate and a reference letter, and we are glad to credit your contribution publicly if you would like us to.
  • You will work directly with SGJSS's Founder and Secretary, so decisions are quick and you will see your work go live.

WHY IT MATTERS

Every improvement to sgjss.org makes it easier for a farmer to find a training programme, for a women's self-help group to reach us, and for a funder to verify who we are before making a grant. This is a small, well-defined project with a disproportionate impact on the reach of a grassroots organisation.
