We are seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead the technology strategy, product development, AI innovation, academic integration, and technology-driven business growth of an integrated EdTech ecosystem.
The CTO will oversee the development and scaling of SaaS-based education products, learning management platforms, AI-powered solutions, analytics systems, and future digital learning products. The role will serve as the bridge between academic requirements, technology, product, AI/ML, data, and business, ensuring that technology solutions address real-world challenges faced by students, educators, schools, and educational institutions.
The ideal candidate will combine strong technical depth with strategic thinking, product leadership, business acumen, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams. The candidate need not be the primary programmer but must be technically strong enough to evaluate architecture, guide engineering teams, manage technology partners, and translate business and academic requirements into scalable products.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
1. Technology Strategy & Leadership
- Define and execute the organization's short-term and long-term technology strategy and vision.
- Develop a roadmap for building and scaling a technology-driven EdTech organization.
- Identify opportunities across AI, Generative AI, automation, analytics, digital learning, and emerging technologies.
- Establish technology goals, KPIs, budgets, priorities, architecture standards, and execution frameworks.
- Align technology strategy with overall business objectives and market opportunities.
- Drive technology transformation, scalability, security, reliability, and operational excellence.
2. Product & Platform Leadership
- Own the complete lifecycle of existing and future EdTech products and platforms.
- Translate academic, institutional, customer, and business challenges into technology products and solutions.
- Define product requirements, architecture direction, feature priorities, release plans, and technology roadmaps.
- Drive product-market fit, user adoption, scalability, reliability, and continuous product improvement.
- Lead MVP development, pilots, product launches, and transition of successful solutions into scalable commercial products.
- Establish effective collaboration between technology, product, academic, design, and business teams.
3. Technical Leadership
Provide strategic and technical leadership across:
- AI, Generative AI, and Machine Learning
- Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI APIs
- SaaS and EdTech platforms
- LMS and ERP integrations
- REST APIs and microservices
- Cloud infrastructure and deployment
- Database architecture and data management
- Data analytics and Business Intelligence
- Web and mobile application development
- System architecture, scalability, and reliability
- Authentication, cybersecurity, and data privacy
- CI/CD, Git, testing, and DevOps practices
- AI-powered content generation and assessment
- Recommendation and personalized learning systems
The CTO does not need to be the primary programmer but must possess sufficient technical depth to evaluate architecture, challenge technical decisions, assess technology investments, manage vendors, and translate business and academic requirements into effective technology solutions.
4. AI & Technology Innovation
- Identify practical AI opportunities across learning, teaching, assessment, content creation, attendance, analytics, and institutional management.
- Lead the development and implementation of AI-enabled products and intelligent education solutions.
- Establish responsible AI practices with particular emphasis on student safety, privacy, accuracy, transparency, and responsible technology use.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and determine their practical application to education and business.
- Develop an innovation roadmap that creates measurable improvements in learning outcomes, operational efficiency, and customer experience.
5. Academic & Product Integration
- Collaborate with academic leaders, teachers, content teams, and students to understand real-world educational requirements.
- Oversee the development of digital curriculum, lesson plans, assessments, question banks, worksheets, and multilingual learning content.
- Ensure technology products are academically meaningful and aligned with institutional requirements.
- Use real-world academic environments to validate, test, and continuously improve technology solutions.
- Establish feedback loops between users, academic teams, product teams, and engineering.
6. Team Building & Leadership
- Build and lead multidisciplinary technology and product teams, including:
- Software Developers
- AI/ML Engineers
- Product Managers
- UI/UX Designers
- Data & BI Teams
- QA Engineers
- Academic Content Teams
- Technical Support
- Define organizational structures, roles, KPIs, processes, and performance standards.
- Recruit, mentor, and retain high-performing technology talent.
- Build a culture of innovation, ownership, collaboration, accountability, and execution.
- Develop future technical and product leaders within the organization.
7. Business & Market Development
- Develop strategies to commercialize and scale technology products beyond internal implementations.
- Identify opportunities across schools, coaching institutes, education groups, and strategic partnerships.
- Participate in product demonstrations, institutional presentations, and high-level technology discussions.
- Develop and evaluate SaaS, licensing, subscription, enterprise, and customized solution models.
- Work with leadership on pricing, revenue strategy, partnerships, market expansion, and business growth.
- Translate technology capabilities into commercially viable products and sustainable revenue opportunities.
Required Experience
- 8+ years of experience across technology, SaaS, EdTech, AI/ML, product management, software development, or digital transformation.
- Proven experience building, launching, managing, or scaling technology products.
- Demonstrated experience leading technical and cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of the complete software product development lifecycle.
- Experience working with AI/ML and modern cloud-based technologies.
- Experience in EdTech, K–12 education, LMS, ERP, assessment platforms, or education analytics is highly preferred.
- Strong experience taking products through the concept → MVP → pilot → launch → scale lifecycle is an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to connect technology strategy with business outcomes and customer requirements.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Business Technology, or a related field.
- An MBA or qualification in Product Management, combined with strong technical experience, will be an added advantage.
