Senior Android Developer

Khushi Baby is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Senior Android Developer to lead the development of scalable, secure, and user-friendly Android applications for public health programmes. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical and leadership skills, understand end-user needs, and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. They must be strongly aligned with Khushi Baby’s mission and vision and committed to developing impactful solutions for vulnerable populations at the last mile..

• Lead, guide, and mentor a team of Android developers across multiple projects.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-quality Android applications.
• Collaborate with backend developers, designers, product managers, project managers, and field teams to deliver projects within agreed timelines.
• Translate programme requirements, field insights, and end-user feedback into practical technical solutions.
• Research and recommend new mobile technologies, products, applications, frameworks, and protocols.
• Continuously evaluate and implement technologies that improve application performance, reliability, and development efficiency.
• Ensure end-to-end encryption, backward compatibility, version control, automated testing, code quality, and systematic technical documentation.
• Optimize multithreading, application processes, performance, and system-resource utilization in native Android applications.
• Conduct field tests and analyse user metrics to understand user behaviour and improve the application’s usability and effectiveness.
• Support the development of offline-first solutions for locations with limited or inconsistent internet connectivity.
• Ensure that applications remain accessible and user-friendly for frontline health workers with varying levels of digital literacy.
• Demonstrate ownership, accountability, and a willingness to go the last mile to ensure that Khushi Baby’s solutions create meaningful impact.
• Uphold and actively contribute to Khushi Baby’s mission, vision, values, and organisational culture.

• At least 5 years of professional experience in native Android application development, including 3 years in a team-lead role.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Android Studio, Android SDK, and Android architecture and design patterns.
• Good understanding of multithreading, performance optimisation, system resources, databases, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience integrating APIs and web services and working with JSON and XML.
• Experience building secure, scalable, well-tested, and backward-compatible Android applications.
• Experience working in Agile teams and collaborating with backend, product, design, and project teams.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, communication, and task-management skills.
• A user-centred mindset and strong alignment with Khushi Baby’s mission, vision, and commitment to last-mile public health impact.

The Senior Android Developer may contribute to or lead the development of the following Khushi Baby projects:

• Community Health Integrated Platform for ASHAs, ANMs, and Medical Officers.
• Khushi Baby Reproductive and Child Health Solution.
• Decision Support Tool for Community Health Officers.
• Health Worker Diligence and High-Risk Prediction Module, developed in collaboration with Google AI for Social Good.
• IoT device integrations.
• Facial biometric and NFC device integrations for decentralized health records.
• Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission implementation.
• Health and Wellness Centre Digital Platform.

Remuneration 

The remuneration offered will range between 11-16LPA commensurate with the candidate's experience and skill sets. Other benefits include:
