About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Spring Boot Engineer with strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Vertex AI. The role focuses on designing and developing secure, scalable, cloud-native healthcare applications using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices. The ideal candidate will apply AI-assisted development practices while maintaining high standards for application security, quality, and maintainability.
Job Description
The role involves building and supporting enterprise-grade backend services and deploying cloud-native applications on GCP using services such as Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, and managed databases. The engineer will also integrate Vertex AI capabilities, including generative AI models, embeddings, prompt-based workflows, and intelligent automation.
The candidate will work closely with product, architecture, QA, DevOps, business, and healthcare stakeholders to translate technical and clinical requirements into effective solutions. The role also includes code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, performance optimization, production support, and participation in architecture and engineering best-practice initiatives.
Strong focus will be placed on application security, secure SDLC, DevSecOps, threat modelling, and healthcare data privacy, including protection of PHI/PII and HIPAA-aligned controls. AI-assisted development and coding should be used responsibly, with generated code validated for security, correctness, reliability, and maintainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices.
- Build and deploy cloud-native applications using GCP services.
- Integrate Google Vertex AI for generative AI, embeddings, prompt workflows, and intelligent automation.
- Apply responsible AI-assisted development and coding practices to improve engineering productivity.
- Design and implement secure applications aligned with Secure SDLC, DevSecOps, threat modelling, and application security practices.
- Collaborate with product, architecture, QA, DevOps, and healthcare stakeholders on technical solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, CI/CD automation, performance tuning, production support, and incident resolution.
