Role Overview
We are looking for a Pricing Analyst to join our Catalog Team and take ownership of pricing analysis across a large e-commerce product portfolio.
The role will focus on maintaining competitive market pricing while protecting healthy profitability and margins. The ideal candidate should be highly analytical, comfortable working with large datasets and SKU portfolios, and capable of translating competitor, cost, sales, and profitability data into actionable pricing recommendations.
The Pricing Analyst will work closely with Product, Procurement, Marketplace, Logistics, Sales, Finance, and other cross-functional teams to ensure accurate, competitive, and profitable pricing across products and sales channels.
Key Responsibilities
Pricing & Competitive Analysis
- Conduct regular competitor and market price analysis across competitor websites and major online marketplaces.
- Monitor market pricing trends and identify changes that may impact product competitiveness or profitability.
- Identify and recommend pricing opportunities based on competitor movement, sales performance, product costs, demand, and profitability.
- Compare internal pricing against market benchmarks and highlight significant pricing gaps or exceptions.
- Support the development and implementation of competitive pricing strategies across product categories.
- Monitor product-level and order-level profitability and identify products requiring pricing action.
- Analyze gross margin, product cost, fulfillment cost, logistics cost, marketplace fees, and other relevant cost components.
- Identify products with low, declining, or negative profitability and recommend corrective pricing actions.
- Evaluate the profitability impact of proposed price changes before implementation.
- Support margin improvement initiatives through data-driven pricing recommendations.
- Perform category-level pricing reviews across a large SKU portfolio.
- Determine and maintain appropriate pricing for new products, existing products, bundles, kits, and product variations.
- Review pricing relationships between similar and related products to maintain consistency.
- Ensure pricing is appropriately maintained across different sales channels and marketplaces.
- Regularly review existing pricing to identify outdated, inconsistent, or uncompetitive prices.
- Provide pricing recommendations for slow-moving and aging inventory.
- Support pricing decisions for promotions, campaigns, discounts, and clearance activities.
- Assist Sales and other teams with pricing analysis for bulk orders and special customer quotes.
- Evaluate the financial impact of discounts and promotional pricing before implementation.
- Provide ad hoc pricing analysis based on changing business requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date pricing data across systems and reporting tools.
- Ensure pricing consistency across related products, categories, marketplaces, and sales channels.
- Develop and maintain reports and dashboards covering:
- Competitive price position
- Product and category profitability
- Gross margin performance
- Pricing exceptions
- Cost changes
- Price movements
- Low/negative-margin products
- Pricing opportunities
- Provide regular pricing insights and actionable recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
Work Closely With
- Product/Catalog Team – product setup, variations, bundles, and pricing structure.
- Procurement Team – supplier pricing and product cost changes.
- Marketplace Team – marketplace pricing and competitive positioning.
- Logistics Team – shipping, fulfillment, and logistics cost analysis.
- Sales Team – bulk pricing, special quotes, and customer-specific requirements.
- Finance Team – margins, profitability, costs, and financial impact analysis.
- Strong experience in pricing analysis, profitability analysis, commercial analytics, or business analytics.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, PivotTables, lookups, data analysis, and handling large datasets.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with the ability to convert data into actionable recommendations.
- Ability to efficiently manage and analyze large SKU portfolios.
- Strong understanding of e-commerce pricing, competitor analysis, margins, and profitability fundamentals.
- Experience working with ERP systems and reporting/dashboard tools.
- Good understanding of the U.S. market, online customers, competitive environment, and consumer purchasing behavior.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when working with pricing and financial data.
- Ability to identify exceptions, trends, and opportunities from large volumes of data.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with multiple departments and stakeholders.
- Experience in retail, e-commerce, distribution, automotive/aftermarket, or another product-based business.
- Experience managing pricing for a high-volume or large-SKU e-commerce catalog.
- Familiarity with major U.S. online marketplaces and competitor pricing practices.
- Experience creating pricing, profitability, and commercial performance dashboards.
3–6 years of relevant professional experience in one or more of the following areas:
