Manufacturing Process Engineer

Flender Chennai is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Process Engineer to advice on product design with regards to product manufacturability. Create manufacturing solutions incl. Environment, coordinate product ramp up and drives continuous improvement topics

Key Areas of Responsibility:

• Develop and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness in gear box production.
• Implement Lean manufacturing methods and other Kaizen improvement tools to enhance production operations. (5S, SMED, VSM, Poke Yoke and LCD etc.)
• Identify and implement cost optimization projects across manufacturing process
• Conduct workflow analysis, time studies, and root cause analysis through A3 / 8D techniques to identify and resolve production bottlenecks.
• Lead Kaizen events and continuous improvement projects to foster a culture of continuous enhancement.
• Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and impact of improvement initiatives.
• Facilitate Lean training sessions and workshops to build operational excellence and manufacturing engineering capabilities within the team.
• Maintain order and cleanliness in the production area and promote sustainable practices, including waste reduction and recycling.

Skills Required:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in lean tools and kaizen methodologies.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in using process mapping / Value stream mapping and data analysis tools.
• Familiarity with gear box design and manufacturing processes is preferred.

Educational Qualification(s) Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering

Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering
• Minimum of 5 to 10 years of professional experience in Lean manufacturing engineering, process improvement, or operational excellence initiatives.
• Experience in Gearbox industry is highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in Lean or related operational excellence certifications.
• Experience with data analysis tools.
• Knowledge of sustainability practices and initiatives in manufacturing is an added advantage.
